You hipsters always abandon bands as soon as they are on top.

Stadium Aracadium - RHCP… I am done with this band.. finished..
If that was the case I would have given up on them after Blood Sugar Sex Magic.. alas that did not happen..

It started happening after they stopped making engaging music which STARTED on the By The way album.

Gave the band another chance, and they unloaded twice the amount of drivel in the form of a double album filled mostly with forgetable pablum. No not the worst album I have heard, but this band bores me to tears now, and that is just wrong.
Destroyer
I'll second that one

i agree with john mcenroe, er, brennser. that's probably the only album released this year i'll still listen to regularly in, say, 2009.

i can't into the long blondes album that most people seem to love. or the pipettes, those might be my picks for most overrated that haven't already been said yet.
I'm not really diggin' the Pipettes either as it seems forced to me… I remember checkin' them out sometime last year when they were just starting out in London and not being bowled over, seeing as they would be right up my alley. I'm just starting to listen to the Tralala which have a similar girl group inspired sound.
You're right. I was just goofing on something he had said the other day in the thread that disses u2.

I wouldn't say it was overrated, but the biggest disappointment was the last Grandaddy record. 2, maybe 3 decent songs and the rest is just dismal.

downloaded it last week and it ain't grabbing me either…..heres one for you - I really don't see what all the fuss about the TV on the Radio album is about….thats probably my most overrated of 06
Despite how much play that albums gotten from me this year, I might agree. Don't get me wrong, I love it, but it's not nearly as good as Desperate Youths, in my opinion, and shouldn't have everyone shitting their pants over. It's a very good album…but not nearly as great as everyone says.

I might also add deadboy & the Elephantmen to the list. Downloaded that as well, and didn't quite get the fuss. It's decent, but nothing that fantastic. I doubt I'll listen to it much at all.

Agreed. And I love everything else Grandaddy has put out, especially Sumday. But this album was a massive dissapointment.

despite the fact that its not 2006, you are still nuts, you should see them live, and listen to the album again

the deadboy CD came out this year and it's a great listen, haven't seen them live yet…
I really have a hard time understanding it, but I have heard the same reaction from others. The 2 deadboy shows I have been to though probably rank among my favorite of the last 5 years. He just has an amazing voice. And they do the two person band better than the other more famous acts who do the same thing. They did actually have a bass player at the last show though. The shows are also great because you have a good amount of Acid Bath fans there, and they add a different element to the crowd.
my mistake, I assumed it had come out earlier because I think they played Iota in 2005
