What if Interpol plays a 40 min set? Does that count as a half-show?

What if you review a Broken Social Scene show but you never attended it? Does that count as no review?

Yeah, you'd never survive that damn rule we have that our reviewers have to listen to the albums before writing their reviews. We're sellouts like that, I guess.
Or the second rule, to have reviewers so young that they consider Smashing Pumpkins and Weezer to be the most amazing bands ever to grace the earth.

I refuse to give serious consideration to insults against my musical tastes from a known Old 97's fan.

(Weezer? Huh?)

I never cared much for anything they did after Siamese Dream.
Taken as a whole I agree, however, I could make one hell of an album if I were allowed to make "Mellon Collie" a one disc album instead the two disc bloated egotistical mess that Billy made it.
And rule #3 (see excerpt below) Make sure your review waffles between writing in the third person and writing in the first person. That way, you can confuse the readers without having to refer to obscure references the way pitchdork does.

Also, the quirky lyrics – accentuated by Darnielle's shrill tone – are nearly laughable, but the problem is, I'm not sure I should be laughing. On "Broom People," when the singer proclaims, "I am a babbling brook!" I find it difficult to regard the line as a powerful metaphor, but rather consider it to be really lame.

Love Love Love" is a standout near the album's end. Amid strumming and ambient organ notes, Darnielle sings in a more-easier-on-the-ears softer tone:

You know, we had someone complain about a review a week ago, and they went about it the most bizarre way I'd ever seen; they posted on bigyawn's message board, then sent the reviewer an email with the link to it. I don't know what their problem was - flaunting society's conventions like that.

And for the record, I didn't write the above review…
all this hatred that Rhett harbours for BigYawn is surely an intense form of jealousy. someone should just hire him on so he stops complaining about it so much! the poor chap.
Hey did anybody go see Jimmy Chamberlain at DC9 a few weeks back? What was that all about? How/what was it?

I didn't see it, but from reviews I've read of other shows on the tour, you can pretty much just play the album and you can say you've experienced the show. They have no other material apparently.
Yeah; but at the same time, he's a pretty sizable Chicago figure, and people love him there.
Sounds like someone has an 8 million dollar mortgage to pay off.

i thought it was like 11million?
You're both wrong. It was a paltry $6.8mn.

the $6 million man?
Depending on the mortgage rates, either of us could be closer to the true amount that the Rat is paying out.

I think I recall him selling his old place (the purple Victorian by Wrigley Field) for well over 4 million, so I doubt unless he's a complete idiot he has alot left on his mortgage for the new place.
BILLY CORGAN Storms Off Stage After Audience Yells For SMASHING PUMPKINS Songs - July 27, 2005

Australia's Undercover News is reporting that former SMASHING PUMPKINS frontman Billy Corgan threw a fit during his performance in Melbourne and stormed off stage after the audience yelled for SMASHING PUMPKINS songs.

One fan who who was at the show told Undecover News that at one stage when an audience member yelled "play some PUMPKINS," Corgan snapped back "Can I live my life for today?"

At another time, someone yelled, "We want rock", and Corgan told him to ask for his money back, the fan said.

Towards the end of the show, after another call for more "PUMPKINS," Corgan is said to have said "Fuck this," put his mic down and walked off.

Corgan plays Sydney Wednesday night (July 27) and finishes his Australian tour Friday night in Brisbane.

anyone read corgan's hilarious rant on zwan/"indie" folks in paste? here it is, and it's fucking entertaining.

â??They proved me right, which is that the whole indie thing is just a pose. I canâ??t say that about everybody, but our general feeling in the Pumpkins always was that people took the indie route because deep down they knew they didnâ??t have the talent to make it on the mainstream level. And those people proved to me, that deep down they know they donâ??t have the talent, or the focus, or the true love of people to want to really get out there and try and connect with people. Itâ??s really about them. And fundamentally Jimmy and I disagreed with them.

â??If youâ??re going to play music at a high level to a large audience, it canâ??t really be about you. You have to make it seem like itâ??s about you, but it has to really be about others, itâ??s really about sharing. And their indie-cred mentality really is about, â??Whatâ??s it got to do with me?â?? and â??Can I find people who agree with me, who think like me, who dress like me, smoke pot like me?â?? Theyâ??re just assholes. Itâ??s simple. I could go on with a thousand stories, but you can put that in big capital letters: THEYâ??RE JUST ASSHOLES. They really didnâ??t care. They didnâ??t really care about the music, they didnâ??t really care about the fans â?¦ They really just want to live like pieces of shit and live their little weird creepy lives. End of story.â?
