Lollapalooza Roll Call

Just curious on this for future reference…

What is the price of a one day ticket for Lolla? And are kids free or reduced admission price?

You should do as I did…have a sibling move to Seattle, and marry someone who's parents live in Chicago. Then you have free room and board for a multitude of things!
last year i stayed with family in chicago - i doubt i spent $400 on the whole thing. unfortunately that was not an option for me this year.

single day tix are $80 with no service charges if you choose print-at-home. dunno about kids' tickets. i'm sure the tots would have a blast at the kid's stage. all sorts of rawk stahz show up there and make fools of themselves there.

FYI, for those waffling: there are cheap tickets available on the lolla forum. in the future if i don't get presale tickets, i'm holding off until a week or two before the event and scavenge there.

UPDATE: add $16 to my budget for this trip… i'm seeing The Dark Knight at the navy pier IMAX on thursday. most of the showings (1pm, 4pm, 7pm and 10pm) aren't sold out yet, but all the good center seats are gone - navy pier lets you select your seats, cool. if interested, i wouldn't wait too long before booking a ticket.
Weather looks to be good so far for this coming week.
i was almost going to go, but this yrs line up does not look that good. saturday is kind of lame. i would not even stay until the end on sunday.

I've been watching the weather too, as I also have a Cubbies game on Saturday. Everything looks like its clearing up for the weekend. Will be nice if its mid-80s and sunny as predicted.
better than sunny - partly cloudy! i definitely hope that forcast holds, but lots of time for things to change. i started checking on saturday and the forecast then was scattered t-storms/scattered t-storms/showers. things have steadily improved, let's hope it sticks.

once upon a time my plans revolved around when to mosh and when to booze. now my biggest concern is the weather. gettin 'old, i reckon.

Damn. Ya didn't have to put it like that, did ya? I still count music and booze as the vital components of a good time. But, yea, now the weather somehow factors into things. When I was 20 it didn't make the top ten considerations. Oh well…
Anybody else driving, or is everybody flying? I thought about flying, but a roadtrip ended up being cheaper for two, even with the insane cost of gas.

I am driving. Leaving the DC area on Thursday, and returning on Monday.
im still debating leaving weds and driving till thursday morn, which after a short sleep, gives me an extra day in chicago. Or just stick with the plan and leave Thursday morn and get there Thursday night.

Driving. Baltimore to Philly to Cleveland on Wednesday for friend pickup. Cleveland to Chicago on Thursday.

March of Bataan-like, 12 hour Chicago to Philly trip on Monday.

It will be worth it.

As far as gas goes, its a no-brainer as long as you can stand the greasy, beer-soaked odor of a marathon road trip and you have a car that is somewhat gas-efficient. I might fill up five times tops, which, between three people, isn't so bad compared to flight prices.
Got into Chicago early Thursday. I like this town. Everything is always happening. Saw The Black Keys last night and even met them. They were out having dinner before the show but nobody recognized them I asked if I could take a pic and they were surprised someone recognized them I guess. Going to be a great festival. How the hell do I upload images on here??? I heard Barak might introduce Wilco or Kanye at Lolla.

Show was awesome. The Black Keys really rock it out. They were awesome at Lolla as well. Today was a long day. Radiohead was awesome as usual. I'm pooped. Surprisingly the festival food and drink is not very expensive at all. I was use to Virgin and Bonnaroo prices but Lollapalooza prices are pretty cheap. Day 2 this morning.
Radiohead was an experience!

Fake Plastic Trees, No Surprises, and the fireworks and helicopter floodlights during Everything In It's Right Place really made the whole thing an EVENT. I was standing to the left of the stage, near the stairs by the restrooms and had a perfect view. Don't know why, but I was super emotional. Probably because of the back to back, "Everything In It's Right Place", "Fake Plastic Trees", "Bodysnatchers", "Videotape" combo. Thom knows how to put it on, and he laid it on thick.

Other highlights for the day were CSS, Bloc Party for the first 20 minutes I caught them, and The Greenskeepers DJ set. Missed The Kills, The Go! Team, and some other stragglers due to my late flight, but whatever.

Cat Power was HORRIBLE. God, so fucking boring. She did a million covers and ONE original (Metal Heart) before I left. I wasn't expecting her to revive the whole "Jukebox" thing for this show, but bam, that's what I got. Big whoop.
LOLLA Day One - some downers like no comedy, bad cellphone service (AT&T, show sponsor, too…), bad exiting setup for South Stage; no toilets at North Stage left like before; long re-entry route midafternoon.
But, a nice show. And still $5 beers, $20 shirts.
I saw Bang Camero, Rogue Wave, Duffy, The Black Keys, Cat Power, some of The Raconteurs and Malkmus & Jicks, then Radiohead (I was too far back, but nice sound, and…..awesome.) Fireworks (intense display through a few songs) was nice treat
Still sore as shit ready for day two. What the hell is up with NIN cancelling their show for Sat in MIN? I think Trent is sick. I hope they don't cancel Lolla. Yeah Radiohead was pretty good I got some good videos and pics. I was on the right hand stage of the side. I'll try to get on the left for Rage. I wonder which side is better. There was this girl behind me who just started sobbing during Radiohead especially during Fake Plastic Trees and the fireworks going off, which were pretty cool. Rage will probably have gun shots go off.
