Lollapalooza

They're probably taking the seats out to save the Lollapalooza crowd from having to do it themselves.
Makes me think of the infamous Lollapalooza in Chicago in 1992 when the crowd went nuts during Ministry's set, ripped up the lawn, and generally just destroyed the place. Somehow I don't think Morrissey will be encouraging people to do that. At the old Great Woods in Boston, people ripped out all the sod and after that Lollapalooza was NOT invited back.
My printed ticket has a row and seat location. But the row is numeric and MPPs rows are alphabetic. ???

How did you get a printed ticket already?

They have an e-mail delivery option ($3.50)
pure speculation on my part… but i wonder if it's because of the two day pass tickets everything is being sold as general admission. when buying the tickets the system will give you the best seats for both shows at the same time. i.e. the seats for day one could be in a different location from day two. which is good because you could get bumped farther back if it's trying to place you in the same seats for both shows.

so if day one is selling faster than day two for single sales and two day passes, the system is handling them as they come in and assigning them as ga. speeding up processing time up it then assigns the actual seats at the time the tickets are printed based on of course when you ordered the tickets.
I think festival shows should be all GA. Not everybody wants to see every band.

I just wonder how they will handle it with the seats.

Good point…if I was going I'd just show up in time for Moz, and probably make as grand an entrance!

oh, i thought it was "ass, gas or grass, no one rides for free"
That's only used when someone tries to share a seat with me on public transpo.

I got my tix for both days. Question though… when does it start? Are we talking a noon time start for both days, or late afternoon? Three stages. Where do they put 'em? Been to Merriweather a few and doesn't seem like a boat load of room. I thought even Coachella could improve the "sound overlapping" problem. And they have tons of room. Ya know, watching one band while listening to two others…. very annoying.

WHO DARE TO AWAKEN ME FROM MY SLUMBER!!!???!!

it's just plain old G.A. with seats

that means if you find a seat you like, and nobody's sitting in it, it's yours

or maybe you change your mind and would like to try that seat over there (the seats are always greener on the other side of the pavilion)

or maybe sit on the lawn for a bit

or stand

hey, we're gonna try it and see how it goes - wasn't worried about Morrissey fans ripping seats out

and if we need to clear the aisles during String Cheese day, we'll just have an usher walk thru the crowd holding a can of deodorant spray and watch em scatter

Seth, from my last Moz/Merriweather experience….let the security folk know in advance that presenting gladioli and going on the stage to hug the great one is all part of the Moz experience. It will not get out of hand, they're Moz fans, not Anthrax fans.

Last time they were literally "throwing" the poor sods off the stage so Moz ended the show abruptly out of concern for the safety of those who love him dearly.

(no, it wasn't me!)
morrissey fans and tori amos fans are running neck and neck for the craziest i've ever had to deal with. it seems that there's a positive correlation between artist and fan loopiness.

when he played two nights at the club, we were told not to let anyone on stage, but to expect it to happen. despite attempts at flailing, kicking, biting, and scratching by the people trying to get up there, only one person got on stage the first night. he climbed off of the stage right balcony, onto a not very steady tv monitor that used to be there, jumped onto the pa stack, climbed down the side fill, and jumped to the stage. the second night, we had people in position on each corner of the balcony. nobody made it on stage.

tour manangement said it was the best they'd ever seen, and wanted to take us all with them so they'd never have to deal with fans on stage again. we declined.

i'm thinking about going to lollapalooza the first day, just so i can wander around backstage eating meat all day. i think i might save a rack of ribs or a nice raw steak for in the barricade during "meat is murder."

You've met Markie then!

I remember this - I was at this show, watching from the balcony (facing the stage).

I was actually glad that security was so tight/good that night, with only that 1 person getting on stage - all of the other Morrissey shows I have been at have gotten cut short (one gig only lasted 35 minutes) because people kept rushing the stage/throwing Moz to the ground.

It was nice to see a Morrissey show actually through to the end, for a change. :)

Cheers

DJ Medusa.
Hmmmmm, interesting. I've seen Moz a bunch of times and found the stage-hug-flower-presentation ceremony to be quite orderly for the most part. The only exception was at Merriweather when he cut it short because the bouncers got out of hand.

I do remember the kid that thatguy is talking about…that was stupid, but thankfully he never injured himself or he would probably have sued the club for him being a moron.
