I would second that with a big 'hell yeah' except that I haven't seen him as a solo performer. That said, I saw Canyon 4-5 times and was absolutely blown away every time. They were so good, and it's just gutting that they went their separate ways.
I love the Apes. I've seen them a few times and it's always great.
I like what I've heard from the Sounds of Kaleidoscope and am jazzed for the show tonight.

I'm throwing in a vote for Five Four (
www.fivefourmusic.com).
I think the rest of my favorite local bands have already been mentioned.

there are two pagodas, and the one in dc has been around longer. adrian from shortstack is in the dc pagoda. while i wouldn't call them "great", they are quite good and sound like the clean and yo la tengo and galaxie 500.

Okay, Snailhook, well I've seen ONE of the Pagoda's and whichever one it was I liked them. And which is the Pagoda with the singer who was in the Gus Van Sant movie?

What are the odds of someone having the time to create a webpage that lists all these local bands, has a short description of their music (especially a "RIYL"-type tag) and links to their webpages?
I'd love to support local music and something like that would go along way to making it easier.
Yes, I'm f**king lazy…but it's hard to keep up on all this stuff.
