There's been a lot of banter recently about all the great local talent – but only in the most general sense.
Get specific kids. Name 'em.

i've always liked the bicycle thieves, cheery pop-music, from the moment i heard them - plus a nice group of guys.
and i think schwa has a great voice - but hes a singer-songwriter, so not sure he really counts. but i would still pay to hear him :)

…no, you gain street cred for supporting a local band. Thievery Corp. is one of the only local bands playing Virgin Fest. I suspect they have a few fans outside DC too…

I think some of these lists are being way too generous, but as someone said earlier today, it is all a matter of perspective. It would be hard for all of us to agree on the same ten good bands.

Has anyone heard of The Vita Ruins? They've only played two shows, and haven't released their EP yet, but they've been getting some good buzz lately.
DCist.com Article Their next gig is a dcist.com sponsored show @ DC9 on September 14th.
The Vita Ruins Myspace My personal favorites are:

*Godspeed To That Polytheist
