Ralph: Miss Hoover! There's a dog in the vent!
Miss Hoover: Ralph, remember the time you saw Snagglepuss outside the window?
Ralph: He was going to the bathroom!

I'm not trying to target the kids listening to crappy music…I just feel like they deserve better choices. Of course, nowadays with the internet, whatever music you choose is everywhere, as long as you have a computer and access to the internet. In the grand scheme of things, I do care about what happens to rock'n'roll because I think that we need something that is a bit more raw, honest, and dangerous.

What leads me to believe it sounds like Meatloaf is the orchestration and massive Brandon Flowers vocal vibrato; all of which sounds forced…. like Meatloaf.
Remember, just my thought.

You're a walking rock and roll chiche machine.
Who needs something "dangerous"? Does dangerous make it better? Does "raw" make it better? Does being raw and dangerous equal being honest? What exactly is "dishonest" music?
My favorite album of the year is by Neko Case. I find it neither raw, nor dangerous. I'm not sure if it's honest. And I don't freaking care if it is any of those things. I like how it sounds.

I read someone say that Dane Cook's "humor"/schtick is totally self-conscious and that's (one reason) why he doesn't say anything worth listening too. I think the same can be said about the Killers (except the Killers are at least capable of making superficially decent music, whearas Dane Cook just sucks on every level).

I don't care if you think I'm a cliche…I like all kinds of music (including Neko Case), but I am just simply trying to make a point that it's kind of refreshing when someone throws up their middle fingers and does their own thing. It can be a Bob Dylan, or a Neil Young, or a Joan Jett, or a Johnny Cash or a Thom Yorke. I try to listen to as much as possible and maybe I'm missing something obvious in bands like the Rapture, the Stills, the Kills, the Thrills…etc. Hey, I love the Shins. Does that count for something?

How scary is it that Rhett and I have the same favorite album of 06?

I just listened to a song from the new album on his myspace page. The production sounds similar (maybe not as dense and rocky, but just as dramatic and epic) but his vocals were a real surprise. Less of the raspy Rob Zombie bark, more of a… Brandon Flowers yelp.
The only time I've stood on the 9:30 stage is during his show, when I got to stand up there for like 10 minutes. Sweet.

You are correct. I dont know that the Killers are the most original band out there but my many people's estimation, they put out a fantastic first album and are a pretty decent live act. Solid band despite what the haters say….
