I don't think, a common reason to hate U2.
Most divisive bands...

What can I say? That's why I included the " " in my original post.
U2 IMHO went downhill with the release of "Live at Red Rocks" and recovered a bit with Acthung Baby. LARR marks the point where the band become Bono & U2. AB, Zoopra, and Pop all get dismissed by "hardcore" U2 fans because they don't sound like Joshua Tree. Shame on U2 for wanting to experiment a little, try a different sound. I'm sure even the Edge was getting tired of his guitar sound. Of course the last record was hearled as a return to the Joshua Tree, which of course meant is dull as dishwater…. "like a mole digging in a hole"
umm i like korn and a lot of those bands they named…im kind of confused haha
gbv, at least here.
modest mouse
i think u2 suffers from over exposure. strokes and white stripes too. especially the 'stripes, i like their music, but i want to punch jack white these days. why anyone would take the effort to diss the beautiful south is beyond me.

Originally posted by Bags:Good point. So many people have differing concepts of what entails "Brit Pop". To some, it's basically all British alternative from the 80s up till now; others see it as something more specific to the 90s that refer to the more commerical U.K. alt stuff (Oasis & Charlatans for example), and then some people lump all 90s & 21st century U.K. alt/indie under the "Brit Pop" category (so by that rationale, The Delgados would also be Brit Pop). It does seem strange that Oasis & Radiohead would be considered part of the same genre—You'd be hard pressed to find two bands that are more further apart…

Britpop.
Radiohead, yes; britpop, I don't think so….
Anyway, I think The Smiths are quite a polarizing band. I've only met people who have strong feelings either way—nobody just says they were "okay."

Hence, rather than not giving them a second thought, he was a bit more proactive in not liking them. Poor schmo…. :D

I'm interested to find out what you think. You seem to be open minded so not like some other board members who just put them down because the old bloke of the board loves them.
It's all in the lyrics, he's a genius of a songwriter with typical English wit and sarcasm, which has probably been a part of the reason why they don't hit the bigtime this side of the Atlantic like at home….most doodles just won't get the point of the songs, which is understandable. [/qb]

I think it might have been brought up earlier, but Oasis. (One of my favorites).
