Roll Call: Ted Leo

I'm going. I've never seen him before, so I'm really looking forward to it, although I too wasn't overly impressed with the new album. It should be a fun show no matter what he plays, though. :)
It's also being broadcast on NPR tonight.
me.
He's on the Kojo Nnamdi show today around 1:00 if anyone didn't get tickets. I always see Kojo at TL/RX shows.
I'll be there. The last time I saw Ted was the last time he was at the Black Cat and he was really sick, but Ted being Ted, he still put on a very good show.

His new album seems like a great EP that was just stretched to a full length. The first 6 tracks (not counting the intro) stand up to just about anything he's done.
Anyone have an opinion of the opener, Love of Diagrams?
I still have an extra ticket if anyone needs one.
It's on tonight for the extra ticket selling.

The Love of Diagrams EP that's out is really good. The full-length comes out in April, I think, and I haven't heard it yet.
Haha, you can never tell whether more people will be looking for tickets or selling tickets at the door. I guess we'll see. :)
I was listening to The Best Show on WFMU a few weeks ago and Ted was helping out with the fundraising marathon… which was great and hilarious as usual. Anyhoo, when talk of Living w/ the Living came up, Ted remarked "I don't even really like the new album", half-jokingly.
now that was a fun show, with an energetic crowd and great sound! thought he might play a bit longer since his reportoire of material is every growing. we were packed in there like sardines, no matter where you stood.
His show gets better every time I see him. Tonight was brilliant.

They would have been fine had they had a vocalist between them who could actually sing…the music was good, but their voices were absolutely atrocious.

As for Ted, he always sounds better than ever at the 930 Club, and last night was no exception. I loved the new stuff, and I can't wait to actually be able to listen to the new cd (I bought it last night, and I've refused to download it or even preview it so far).
Great again, as always. I must have hit the jackpot where I was standing (Floor about 15 feet from the entrance on the right) no tall people and I had some personal space.
New songs sounded awesome. Bottle of Buckie and Sons of Cain kicked it. Bomb.Repeat.Bomb, which I don't like on the album was good live. It felt a little short but I'm sure it wasn't. I would have liked a few more Hearts of Oak tunes but their absence was a deal breaker.
He played for about an hour and a half. Since most bands seem to only play for about an hour these days, I was pretty happy with that.
good show, LOUD! I thoought the first 40 mins were excellent with highlights including a few songs from Hearts of Oak and Bomb Repeat Bomb - I bailed before the encore - what did he play?

does anyone else think he's a little uncomfortable with his expanding and diverse fan base - I thought I detected a bit of an edge to his 'Merriweather girls' banter…
I didn't get that, but I was in the balcony. I thought he was overly nice to them.

Band sounded really really good. His voice was in the best shape it's been in awhile. Of the two major clunkers to me on the new album (Bomb.Repeat.Bomb) and the reggae song, I thought the reggae song came off pretty well live. For the encore, he played Timorous Me, Walking To Do (or did he play that at the end of the regular set), and the Chumbawumba cover on the new album's bonus disc, Rapaport's Lament.
If you missed the show or the stream on NPR, or otherwise just want it, it is available for download on npr.org.
glad you guys had fun. I had fun at the Dean & Britta show (with Luna songs!).
Lot of people at that one? Do they play as a duo, or is it a full band?
