Glad I caught him at the club before he passed on.
Didn't go for the morbid "might be his last show" thing, but even in his 70s he put on quite a show. Actually better than some of his earlier ones (with the magician and all).

I was lucky enough to see him at 9:30, Nation and Woodstock. He will be missed.
Since 98' I've been going to see George Clinton everytime he comes in the area. I want to make sure I'm at the last show he preforms around here because I always have a good time seeing him and I don't want to have the regret of missing his last show.
RIP James

I remember seeing Mr. Brown at the Club at least 5 years ago. Everybody was dancing and having just one of those moments that they will never forget. I waited and tried to meet him after. He got in his limo and stopped in front of about 20 of us with his window down and said hello and shook hands. The security said no autographs but I begged him to sign my album of his and he said ok, "just one autograph". It's framed and been hanging on my wall ever since.
I will always think of Mr. Brown on Christmas from now on.

The best part of the whole "Soup at the Bar" episode was explaining to the busboys who he was, and that just because people were calling him The Godfather didn't mean he was anybody's actual godfather. By the time the entourage checked out, the busboys were all doing the Vegas pre-show arm-wave and chanting "James Brown! James Brown!"
(If you've seen him live, you'll get that reference. Hard to explain… everyone in the crowd summoned James to the stage by chanting and waving…)

what's the big deal here, folks, this was predicted 15 years ago… you're had plenty of time to prepare.

She has another separate home nearby. So she's not really a homeless person.
Originally posted by Surly Bonds:
{T}o make sure there's some celebrity drama about it, apparently right after he died his wife was locked out of their home because they weren't technically married. She was on vacation and when she got back to her home she found the gates locked and told a reporter outside the house:
"This is my home. I don't have any money. I don't have anywhere to go."
So basically she found out her husband is dead and that she's now a homeless person all on the same day. I don't know about you, but I'd say that's probably the best Christmas ever. The only way it could've gotten any worse is if she accidentally backed over and killed Santa Claus in front of a group of orphans. And the orphans are sick. And the only thing keeping them going was the hope that one day Santa would bring them new parents.
