well at least they've decided to raise the level of discourse to our standards.
The goal was to flood big yawn for illegal use of copywritten material.

I mean no disrespect, just curious…what "copywritten" material?
Bulletin board chatter is copywritten material? Fascinating. Read through the threads on HFStival. This is pure childishness. The entire attitude is…laughable, really. Except for some pretty threatening sounding language:

That board is asking for it. I suggest unleashing a virus.

If you care so much about copyright law, rather than break the law yourself by attempting a Denial of Service attack, why don't you try the legal way and file a cease and desist with Bigyawn?
I particularly enjoyed the email I received from nofx420fugazi (if this name doesn't make you piss yourself, then I don't know what would…) with the subject "FAGGOT." The email said something along the lines of, "Expect a flood of email." Surely, this is a young man who listens to what his bands have to say.

Whoa there, Bags…plenty of three and four syllable words in that post…you might want to tone it down a bit for any friendly lurkers from hfstival.com

On the big yawn home page there is information regarding this years HFStival that was clearly taken directly from HFStival.com and according to the No Electronic Theft Act, it is illegal to take any information from another website and post it as your own.

HFStival.com was just standing up for principle! If you get information from a website, you have to ask that site for premission and then cite that site saying that you got the information from there…it's like writing a paper for college, you can't just quote something and not cite who you're quoting.
Never been to the HFS site, but I'm guessing you are 100% wrong about this.

huh since when is a rumour copywritten, a floodng a site is still immature behavior.

Contacting the editor would have been my first step.
Hey moneybags, are you friends with the verbose mr. nofx420fugazi? I would love to meet him to discuss his thoughts on the legalization of marijuana and his well thought out arguments.

I'm sure thatguy would love to take them on… Maybe I'll get to ban my first users :D

FYI I don't think some of the higher ups at the club would appreciate their emailboxes being flooded. You do still want to attend show here don't you?

Do your homework.

The "No Electronic Theft Act" is for software and electronic works (i.e., digital music and movies).

It does not protect information and news. It was designed specifically to create criminal penalties for those that were distributing software (and later music and movies) over the internet.

It's got to be hard to defend the behavior and attitude of the posters from HFStival.com. Sending bulk email folders to folks with nothing to do with your issues, threatening viruses, trying to shut a fledgling site down. It's like a short dude with a huge car; seem to be some adequacy issues pent up and raging through that board.

I guess it's frustrating waiting for that twice yearly event…oh, that's right, the winter HFStival was cancelled. I understand more now, sorry for y'all.

The No Electronic Theft Act does not apply to music and movies, that's why a year later the passed the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
