Vienna vs. the back alleys of DC

http://www.cdc.gov/omh/Populations/populations.html

"The United States has become increasingly diverse in the last century. According to the 2000 U.S. Census, approximately 30 percent of the population currently belongs to a racial or ethnic minority group"

So 20% isn't that far off….
So where in the Greater DC area can I go to get "authentic" food? Very little of the ethnic foods in America are authentic. They are designed to appeal to the American palate.

"Truth according to the 2000 Census.
80% white
10% asian
7% hispanic
3% black"

I rest my case. And, if you think half those restaurants you listed serve authentic cuisines, you need to get a passport and travel more.
Five miles away, a different story:

RACIAL/ETHNIC COMPOSITION

Arlington County takes pride in, and gains vitality from, the diversity of its population. According to the 2005 population estimates, 57.3 percent of Arlington residents are white, 20.8 percent are Hispanic, 9.1 percent are black or African-American, 9.6 percent are Asian or Other Pacific Islanders, 0.2 percent are American Indian, and 3.0 percent identified as another race or two or more races."
not that chili dogs are 'ethnic' but vienna inn has the best cheap food that will kill you

In neighborhoods - often referred to as ethnic neighborhoods - where the demand for authenticity is high. Not where they cater to an 80% white American demographic. A tiny taste of Anita's salsa will confirm this. Of course, you may pay extra for dog, cat, frog, weird fungi or sea slugs..cause you look like you have an American Express ebony card….hahahaha.
like dc's little italy?

one of the few good italian restraunts i've been to in the dc area is in vienna. the name escapes me, though

i have actually, just last year! why you ask?
well i'm still living in vienna……………it sucks.
Mmmm…authentic third world fare…where they feed you a bowl of rice and bacteria filled water…no thanks.

So you been to school for a year or two
And you know you've seen it all
In daddy's car thinkin' you'll go far
Back east your type don't crawl
Play ethnicky jazz to parade your snazz
On your five grand stereo
Braggin that you know how the niggers feel cold
And the slums got so much soul

It's time to taste what you most fear
Right Guard will not help you here
Brace yourself, my dear

It's a holiday in Cambodia
It's tough kid, but it's life
It's a holiday in Cambodia
Don't forget to pack a wife

Your a star-belly sneech you suck like a leech
You want everyone to act like you
Kiss ass while you bitch so you can get rich
But your boss gets richer on you
Well you'll work harder with a gun in your back
For a bowl of rice a day
Slave for soldiers til you starve
Then your head skewered on a stake
Now you can go where people are one
Now you can go where they get things done
What you need my son:

Is a holiday in Cambodia
Where people dress in black
A holiday in Cambodia
Where you'll kiss ass or crack

Pol Pot, Pol Pot, Pol Pot, Pol Pot

Typically extreme POV, but nice lyrics. Yours? I suspect with your Japanese heritage, you've eated a lot of rice….and one doesn't have to even leave the good 'ole US of A to find bacteria filled water…HAHAHAHAHHA.

I concur.
and after that it's landlord lynching time…
The simple fact is this……if you're saying that Fairfax County is not "ethnically diverse" or not as "diverse" as you would personally like it to be,then you have your head planted firmly up your ass and have no idea of the reality of the situation….have a pleasant day…..
The racial makeup of Fairfax County is 69.91% White, 8.57% Black or African American, 0.26% Native American, 13.00% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 4.54% from other races, and 3.65% from two or more races. 11.03% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
