Mogwai Roll-call

That was my exact thought. I'm mostly familiar with Sweet Love for Planet Earth, so I'm used to hearing it used there. But each song is so different, I was a little bummed to hear it used so prominently each and every time. Still…impressed with the rest.

Second time catching them and yeah Fuck Buttons were good too. They also played a bunch of new stuff. That distorted screaming works better in some songs more than others. "Sweet Love for Planet Earth" (first song they played) is one where I think it works well; it just sounds so cathartic and fitting in that song. There were other songs, old and new, where it wasn't really necessary, though.
You missed the show opener: yes! i am a long way from home.

Yep, they started off with Long Way from Home.

F*ck Buttonzzz. Don't know where their sound is coming from. I'm sure 90% of it is prerecorded and 10% is the little things they add (keyboard, vocals, etc).
It sounds fairly different live than on record.

I'm pretty sure most, if not all of it is being reproduced live.
I will say that, while I normally think electronic music is bullshit live (cue sweetcell telling me otherwise in a 4000-word post :) ), I was able to track most of what they were doing as they were doing it.

hahaha oops. sorry about leaving the first song of the setlist.
Oh and this was my first experience with the new PA. The sound improvements are definitely very noticeable; it was the crispest/easiest-on-the-ears sounding 930 show I've been to. The anal audiophile in me does have to point out one small thing though. I'm almost sure I heard some bass clipping in a couple songs. Not sure which ones but one was toward the beginning and one was in the middle. There were some pretty loud static pops when the bass drum was hit a few times in each song. Other than that, I thought it sounded flawless.

i wasn't there so i can't comment, but you have a track record of saying that about electronic acts so i'll take your assessment with a grain of salt.

:p :p :p :p (since an image is worth a thousand words)
Christmas Steps… Cody…

I should have gone to the show. I'm surprised Christmas Steps didn't destroy that PA system.
