Mogwai Roll-call

I'm assuming a bunch of you are going. Pretty psyched…I don't think I've seen them since their tour for Happy Songs for Happy People.
in.
last night was great.
was it loud?
i'm going, thanks to sweetcell.
Last time I saw them at the club, it was subdued…at least by their standards. Man, nothing can ever compete with that Ottobar show…I'll never forget the wave of distortion when My Father My King hit. Whew.
the show with ISIS opening was really loud…

well… obviously somewhat
but compared to previous years, no. the shows haven't really been super loud since 2002.
<raises hand>
Argh can't make it tonight. I hope they come back for another round. I like the 'single.'

yeah . ..that was intense.
Just saw them in Richmond last night. They were really really good. Much better than Explosions in the Sky.

Also, fuck buttons were awesome. Crazy and awesome.
wow, never seen mogwai play a 2 hour set. I thought it was an excellent show!

thoughts?
Very much an excellent show.

And yeah, I wasn't expecting that two-hour length at all.
grrr had class till 10pm.

please tell me they didn't play my father my king
What did they play? Did it sell out?
I don't think it sold out at full capacity, but it probably sold out at a reduced capacity with the stage forward about 10 feet. It was pretty packed.
Yeah it was more packed than I guessed it'd be.

And no, no My Father My King sadly.

They did play a good mix of old and new, though; I'm not the best with their song titles.
Definitely pretty killer. I did feel my interest start to fade a bit in a the middle of the set since I'm not super familiar with some of the new songs, but man, that opening and ending killed.

Anyone catch Fuck Buttons? A few things they did were a little annoying (that yipping/drum beat bit, and they singer (?) relied a little too heavily on that same distorted voice effect), but otherwise they were pretty moving. Glad I caught them.
Second time catching them and yeah Fuck Buttons were good too. They also played a bunch of new stuff. That distorted screaming works better in some songs more than others. "Sweet Love for Planet Earth" (first song they played) is one where I think it works well; it just sounds so cathartic and fitting in that song. There were other songs, old and new, where it wasn't really necessary, though.
