what commercials really work...

I'd like to see eMusic do a parody ad using Jon Bon Jovi as iTMS and Little Steven as eMusic.

Those commercials showing a swollen prostate cutting off a mans bladder almost always make me have to take a leak, so I'd say they "work"
if the commercial was for toilets or something, maybe!

What happened to Rod Argent?
He went to Birchmere for the food.

i'd be interested to hear what anyone in advertising has to say about it … by the way, i find the psychological aspects of advertising really fascinating, how much attention goes into every square inch of a print ad and every frame of a tv ad to appeal to their target audience … nothing is unplanned or coincidental in a well-crafted ad, it's kind of freaky
I have a relative who is an advertising planner. That means, the person that initially considers the kind of campaign you want to develop based on certain psychological pressure points, etc. What's really cool is she spent all this time studying things like mythology to develop an understanding of the human psyche and the stories that appeal intrinsically to people across demographics. Very cool. Then, in the end, they sell tires. ;)
i've just been reminded how much i love those Bud Light "Real Men of Genius" commercials. eff'ing brilliant, and i love the background vocal fills (dude's over-the-top vocal stylings, women's back-up chorus).

now whether the commercial "works" in as much as making me want to consume the product… ehh. but at least we all know the brand associated with the commercial, so that's some degree of effectiveness…

Those commercials were "Real American Heroes" before 9/11.

Some of those are so classic

"that ain't no zuchini"
those old Got Milk commercials were good.

does anyone remember the one where the guy gets hit by a bus and then wakes up in a room with a plate of cookies and a refrigerator full of empty milk cartons?

i think it was taken off the air relatively quickly but man , that shit was funny.

also, those Aspercreme commercials…funniest slogan ever

"You bet your sweet Aspercreme!"

that one was changed too. :( damn censorship.
i like the toby keith "i'm a ford truck man, that's what i am" commercials b/c his beard and permed yellow mullet don't match.

i grew up in a town where people are "ford truck men" or they drive a chevy (pronounced chivvy). some people like to make statements like: "i'd rather push my ford than drive a chevy." they're silly.

i like it when "factory to dealer incentives" are mentioned in car commercials. what the fuck are those anyway?
Today is World Farm Amimals Day.
The Comcast Monkey-With-A-Sledgehammer spot.

I'm signing up for high-speed internet right now.
The really old one for American Tourister or some other suitcase company that had a gorilla throwing suitcases around in the baggage area. After my last plane trip, I'm pretty sure that's really what happens.
I like the one where Mean Joe Greene gives the kid a Coke and proves that not all big Negroes are bad after all.
I was in a commercial once but it didn't move too much product, i dont think. I never actually saw it on TV, but a few friends did at like 3 in the morning.
My personal favorite commercial was the Nationwide Insurance one, where MC Hammer was all dancing with his backup dancers one minute then getting the mansion repo'ed the next. Cracked me up!
