That is some heavy stuff. So what about animals coveting their neighbors wife and killing?
isn't there some Catholic saint that on his saint day you can take your pet to church and have it blessed?
an animal could not do that, because that would be a self-conscious recognition. . which is something that, according to st. augustine, animals do not have the capacity for.
btw, i believe regarding you last point, that would be st. francis. he preached to the animals 1) to save them and 2) because no one else wanted to listen to him (at first).

Maybe cause the alternatives are all pretty shitty. Easier to swallow that way. Religion is simply a catering to the fears of the masses anyway. Who really knows? Other than Jesus of course.

Probably because you have heard of the terms heaven and hell since a child and as such they are familiar to you. You didnt start reading Tom Clancy till much older so the idea of a plane as a missile is not so engrained.

Whats wrong with having a good time then dying and that being it, well apart from passing on your genetic material?
Sounds like life to me.
Sure you cant prove heaven exists or not. But to have such unquestionable faith that it does exist is a little unnerving to me.
