Cinerama...anyone going tonight?

Ok Vansmack….

I have no idea what we will be doing. Lulu isnt working today and I can finish fairly early. So we just have to accomodate you and Jadetree.

"* "My Apartment Complex" is the theme song for a new sitcom on Spanish national television, "La vida de Rita" (Rita's life)! "

Could be fun… I do like synth pop, remember I am 80's boy. Can I just pretend they are postal service?
True, true. The new material has more guitar anyway…at its best, think Postal Service with female vocals + late Velvet Underground.

I think Lily's wrong. So there.
there's synth pop, and there's synth pop. there's 80's music and then there's 80's music.

just forwarning you that you might just feel the need to head to the back bar for a beer during their set. hopefully they'll be first so i'll miss 'em anyway cuz i can't ever get there at a respectable hour! :)

i think you're being kind there. :D

their description sounds fantastic on allmusic.com but doesn't exactly translate out of the ocmputer.

maybe they'll be infinetely better than they were a few months ago, but i'm damn skeptical.

Actually the one I have is This Is Cinerama. I just noticed that it was a compilation of import singles. Now I am curious to see what the rest of their songs sound like.
Kerry Kerry is still played, they played it last time at least…. I dont think they played anything else off of that album though.

There albums have got better over time.
I think I'll go out and get Torino next then.

Once they resigned themselves to the fact that their audience consisted of me, my friend, their tour-mates and some guy named Izzy, I think they actually played a good show.

DISCLAIMER: Walkman does not endorse listening to Parker and Lily. His experience with this product was atypical, and will not be shared by all users. If anyone is actually persuaded to catch their set, Walkman is not liable for any dissatisfaction that may result.
skirting the Parker Lily thing……

Mongo, they sell the albums at the shows. Last time they had them all for $10 a pop. Much cheaper than you will get them for any other way, unless you get lucky on ebay…… torino, disco Volante and Holiday are very good. Holiday is an odd EP collection of torino and disco volante.

well, i wonder if it could be worse than certainly sir
certainly sir,

I had blanked out their name, damn they were bad.
My vote for the award of worst live band EVER!

Goes to "Big Bang Theory"

My God, that is SOME shite!
okay so who do we think will open first before cinerama?
well, now that was a great show. now i'm even more bummed i missed them in october. and i even remember kurosawa's real name unlike last time! :D

see, i told you all that parker and lily were utter shite. though i did meet walkman there and we agreed to disagree :D . and come to think of it, i remember seeing you there at their show in january.
Cinerama really was great, much better than I expected and my hopes were high. They didnt even play my 3 favorite songs and it was still great. Gedge is a great entertainer, even if he was egged on by the fact he was being filmed.

The openers were god awful.
WOW,

yeah Cinerama sounded great last night. That was definately one of the better sounding shows I have been to at the blackcat.

I liked it when the guitar work was ferocious and feedbacky and you thought it really couldnt get any louder then the guitarist hit the peddle and the sound doubled.

David Gedge is a mighty good songwriter….

But the supports were awful.
it really was a tremendous night…………why oh why did someone think that the openers would appeal to cineramas audience? it was painful.

i loved every minute of gedge's performance so i guess it weighed out………well done markie for giving gedge the line of the song he forgot………….which one was that again?
If I remember correctly it was the first song on Torino….

The words of which I have always loved:

I'm not denying that I was trying to appear nonchalant
You're not my wife; it's your own life and you can kiss who you want
But that kiss lasted slightly longer than strictly was right
You say you tried to break off but he was stronger
Well maybe you might
Not be quite as blame free as your expression suggests
If he's only an old buddy why does he stare at your breasts?
And is he always quite so zealous about keeping in touch?
I don't usually get this jealous, but that was too much
Please don't tease
Just stay away from him from today
I mean it, I've seen it
You say it's all just for fun, but look what you've done
Listen, babe, he was already trying to get his hand down your shirt!
From what you're saying (well, unless you're lying!) he's going to get hurt
Please don't tease
Just stay away from him from today
I mean it, I've seen it
You say it's all just for fun, but look what you've done

Something in your past put meaning to the song?
Not entirely,

I just think its a shrewd and yet naive view of a relationship. It makes it bittersweet.

Why? You never watched one of your partners flirt with someone and thought, hey up, this doesn't look right?

Not really, I'm not the jealous type. Flirting is okay but if lips make contact then we have to talk. As many street fights that I've been in during my past, not one was over a girl.
Very wise. Whats the point over fighting over someone who would rather be with someone else? It never made any sense to me.

I think thats why I like the first couple of lines of the song and its genral attitude so much. Its a shame that you just know he is about to get dumped….
