best movies for halloween time

so many to choose from. gosh where do i start.

in a vampire mood. just watched salem's lot, into fright night into lost boys.

now i want brains. i think i'll start with redneck zombies.

not really halloweeny, but gosh darn, i liked m. night's "the happening."

tonight it's "venom." snakes scare me.

there's the obvious suggestion: the Halloween franchise

too typical. i saw halloween 1 for the first time when i was six, before i went out trick or treating. needless to see . . . there's nothing wrong with me now.

I always thought that was a more apt holiday for them.

Nightmare Before Christmas.

Some might consider this a Christmas film, but I always watch it at Halloween.

And, while not a movie, The Great Pumpkin is always required viewing.

Shaun of the Dead

Obviously Romero's original three zombie movies would be great, especially Dawn of the Dead. It's the reason why I consider zombies my number two fear (just behind giant squids, but they only win since we have proof of their existence).

28 days later .. i've still yet to see the sequel though.

I think the 2004 version of Dawn of the Dead is genuinely scary. No snarking unless you've seen it.

Actually, considering I'd put the original in my top 10 movies of all time, I thought the remake was pretty good. Granted, you have to come to it as a new story, but overall I dug it.

has anybody ever seen this movie, which is from the seventies i think. might be a tv movie, but it was about a family trapped in their house surrounded by lions. can't remember the title and it really bugs me.
