my big 18th is on August 7th, and I have no ideas as to what to do. except registering to vote and buying a lotto ticket. I quit smoking. so what should I do to celebrate?? I've only got 3 weeks to plan something…I don't even have enough friends to have a big crazy party…argh…what to do??

If I were a hipster 18-year old, I'd gather some folks for dinner at Cafe Saint Ex on 14th Street, then see a show at the Black Cat. All of it's all ages.

Just kidding. I would never condone that underage drinking. I thinkg Bags' suggestion was a good one.

There's a good show at the Black Cat this Saturday night. Carlsonics and High Strung. But I don't know anything about the band playing there on your birthday. They're calle Mae. You could always check out who's at the Velvet Lounge or 9:30.

Since your birthday falls on a weekend, why not go out of town if you can/want to?

To the beach, etc. Bring your friends/have them meet you there.

It could be fun/a different scene! :)

On my 18th birthday my sister and I went to see My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult at the Metro in Chicago. And it was an 18+ show. We were the only ones NOT on drugs, but it was still an awesome show.

That's a good idea. Drive or take that $20 bus up to NYC for the day. Go shopping, hang out, whatever.

my dad won't let me travel without an adult. my parents don't trust me as far as they can throw me, which is DC. I think I'm really screwed as far as this b-day goes.

perhaps you could go there, sneak backstage and have a little birthday ooh la la with Matt Bellamy from Muse! If i was a girl, thats how i would want to spend my 18th birthday :)

or how about an amusement park?

maybe it was 17, since she graduated high school a year early. Not sure, I wasn't on the scene at the time.
