I definitely do shorts because:

1. I have nice legs.
2. It's fucking hot outside.

I may have owned cargo pants as part of my punk rock uniform in the 80's, but haven't worn them since.

I think you're telling on yourself here. I rarely wear shorts but I got compliments when I did.

I wear shorts every day from Memorial Day to Labor Day, never cargo though.

I haven't worn shorts casually since puberty (thanks hairy Ashkenazi heritage).
I wear them for purpose (generally swimming). My wife feels bad for my pale, pale legs. 
I theory, I think shorts denote fun, maybe I just don't like fun.

The reality is people wear shorts cause they are comfy but they look like shit but people can’t accept that … a guy wearing shorts, a shirt and flip flops…Yeah that’s classy..quite the fashion statement

Women are the ones that dress nice..compare the cut on a women’s t shirt to a man’s! Much nicer looking..a man’s shirt is usually a boring straight cut..kind of drapes on you like a shower curtain with a hole for the head or something..a woman’s shirt fits the body… similar thing with men’s pants…most of the time a boring straight cut… I foresee a day when this will change but for now your average man dresses like a slob

I remember 15+ years ago saying that i was going to make homemade concert t-shirts for my future kid(s) someday. I still get ribbed for that. I've never made a concert t-shirt So props to your mom for the effort.
