nope, no advance tix. i seriously doubt 150 people will show up for this. if, by some miracle, that happens, look for me and i'll get you in.
De Novo Dahl
Thanks for posting those times. I may be able to make this one after all. :)
Yeah, if DND play at 10pm, I might be able to manage this show!
did someone mention meeting up and playing D&D?
Snailhook/Kosmo: I'm trying to rustle-up some good 'ole Virginians to come to the Warehouse De Novo Dahl show on 2/17. It isn't hard 'cause a few caught their show at Iota. This is my first trip to the Warehouse, and since I'll be the troop leader, I'm wondering if there are any insiders tricks to finding parking; the building; and do you expect a sell out? (I promise we'll consolidate our trip and only bring a few SUV's - and not wear low-rider pants with our undies showing - for which we are now world renown.)
Since this website has now been singled-out (another "outting") as a "musicologists mecca" by local media, I suspect you guys will be generating more buzz/interest/bodies for these shows. The Velvet Lounge show was unbelievably crowded, and I suspect it's Fico's postings here (not to mention good buzz about Cartel's great sound). Any advice to beat the crowd is appreciated.

suki, barring some sort of miracle, this show will not sell out. unless all the bands have more fans than i think they do.
the best place to find parking is on the west side of the convention center, mostly on 9th st. the warehouse is on the east side of the convention center, on 7th. you can usually find parking on new york ave or 7th, too.
since when has this site been recognized as a musicologist's mecca? that seems pretty funny to me.

Thanks for the insights; I'll be there on thurs. Hoyasaxa3 - recently pegged as "Mr. Knowitall" on another thread - posted somthing about a critic in an on-line chat session at Wash. Post say that he found this message board to be amusing and a repository of music info not found elsewhere…or something along those lines. There IS a combined encylopedic knowledge of contemp. music herein - and more than a few outrageous characters who are "experts".

Suki, I think I like you. ;)
(No, O'Mankie! Not that way.)

For me this forum may as well be my Blog and it my serve the same sort of purpose for some of the other regulars as well. Maybe if some slick Content Management Software (i.e. blog community, wiki, etc) where installed, we could give the forum some "cred" or at least give BigYawn a run for it's money.
Personally I much prefer to get a site up and running, mangage the content, and tweak the site as needed. The idea of actually on a regular basis creatind content and doing editing usually ends up fustrating me.

Kosmo: I agree; this forum does exist thanks to the generousity of Seth, and his band of merry men and women - but I think it's a blog in it's purest form: no commerciality; no paid interests (except for ONE very active pain in the ass). ..and there's an implicit disclaimer which makes it so much fun: All opinions and statements found here are solely the views of individuals and not reflective of the 930, citizens of America, or other dwellers of the universe!
(I do think we should have a warning posted somewhere: Anyone with an unusual idea/philosophy/taste in music - should be prepared to be bludgeoned by cranky board members who don't agree, and there may be an ugly mob action. Proceed at your own risk. )

Do these times still hold for tonight?yup, more or less. de novo dahl will go on closer to 10:15, so that should give you people with dinner plans a few extra minutes to eat dessert. :p
