De Novo Dahl

So I was tempted to create an Street Teamer freshmeat id for this one…

I'll keep it short and sweet.

De Novo Dahl on first at the Iota on Saturday. Show is listed as starting 9:30pm, don't if that is when the band plays or not.

If you like well crafted pure pop with guitars, keyboards, drums and four singers this will be the show for you.

Obsessed Fan Boy signing off…
kosmo vinyl is a street team coaster :p
Will people have time to go to both the Forum Party and to this?
no word on whether or not the forum party is happenin' this weekend… i'm guessin' not unless i hear otherwise
I might be at Iota on Sat. I'm going to give them a listen, but I trust your good taste. ;)
because i can
Obessed Fan Boy checking in.

At my age it's great when a new band like De Novo Dahl comes around. Being able to get excited by something new means that falling asleep in the magical armchair gets pushed back a couple years.

Can't recall how long they play or what the exact setlist was, because it was just right whatever it was. Wasn't left wanting more as it was just right. Set highlights include my 2004 anthem "Monsterproof" , the band's subtle Jeff Buckley tribute "Memphis" and future hit singles "Be Your Man" and "All Over Town".

Not everything was spot on, the song "The Funk" was a bit funky but not in a good way. Am including this for Rhett's benefit.

Needless to say I'll be at the coming shows in Feb , new CD in hand, singing along with a smile on my face attempting to bop along. While the armchair continues to gather dust in the corner.
Kosmo: I was there too, and had the same reaction…just good 'ole rock - done in a joyous, enthusiastic, expert way. I went on your recommendation - and grabbed a good meal too. Sign me up for the "De Novo" street team.
Kosmo unfortunately I had to miss this show as I was laid up w/ the freakin' illness that is being passed around the metro area. Anyhow, I'm back - when is their next show? I thought I saw they will be at Black Cat…
next show at Warehouse on Feb 17th…
Yeah, that's the show I saw listed. Crap just when I noted Exit Clov got a gig at Iota same date.
I'll be at the Warehouse show…wasn't back in town for the Iota gig. Glad it was a good one.

Okay, so the snow was supposed to STOP for a while!!!

Good stuff Kosmo!

And the music isn't bad either. I was thoroughly turned on by Piggy's Misadventure.
Kosmo, I've finally had time to listen. I like them! If work isn't too crazy, I will try to get to the Warehouse show. Is De Novo Dahl headlining? Wish I could have gone to the Iota show.
De Novo Dahl MP3s
I just looked here and it mentions that Small Shouts (one of the opening bands for the De Novo Dahl show) includes members of Washington Social Club.

Anyone know the scoop on the Small Shouts? Who's in that band from WSC? Olivia?
That would be Olivia, and from little digging I did it would appears it's a pop punk outfit…
ok, since i booked the show, i'll give y'all the lowdown:

the small shouts is indeed olivia's other band. they are a guitar/bass/drums indie-pop trio that switches instruments a lot during their set. it's pretty catchy stuff. my band played with them at a halloween party. not really my cup of tea, but people come out for anything WSC-related, and i thought they'd fit well with de novo dahl.

i'm having the small shouts play last only because crowds are fickle and i don't want people leaving before de novo dahl plays, so the set times will be:

9pm: the hot pipes
10pm: de novo dahl
11pm: the small shouts

give or take 15 minutes …
Can you buy Warehouse tickets in advance now – I thought that was a new development. I have a dinner, so probably can get there just in time for DND, but would hate to be shut out!

Thanks
