Which ones?
The iRiver portable video devices already support Cinemanow and Major League Baseball for movie and sports content.
Seems sorta interesting… Havent seen one in person yet, or seen how the videos look on the screen.

I do know that you can get one for free at this site. Ya can choose a Nano or one of those new ones. Worth checkin out

btw… anyone had any problems with that Nano ipod? I heard they had some issues and some needed to be recalled.

I doubt it, I don't think downloading video has the same appeal or potential download numbers.

I was originally an ipod sceptic. I didn't think people would pay $300 for a portable music device. I didn't think the itunes store would catch on either. Now after seeing the success of those and how well apple did things, I think apple might just be able to get a lot of good video content in its store. When they do that I am sure that people will buy it.
All it's really going to do is hurt my bit-torrenting for shows that I could watch for free over the air anyway.

Thanks a lot Apple.
I think my favorite report so far was this one:

"What, did Apple say something? Sorry, I didn't notice. I was too busy watching full length movies on my 4.3 inch Sony PSP screen."
so will Apple get all the press kudos for coming out with a product like the iRiver U10?
Like the mac mini did despite the oqo device?

you read my mind :D

altough wouldn't the Shuttle chassis be closer to the mini mac?

PSP
I have not seen anyone walking around with one of those things.

Better still you could get a crappy RCA DVD player from RadioCrap and watch on a 5 or 7 inch screen. Or I could watch it on my 17 inch laptop or my fucking jumbotron (which is the same size of U2s).

I think all y'all are missing the point.

Mac mini looks nothing like the OhNo device. What are you talking about?

keep editing your posts. In the meantime please try and explain what you & Vansmack are talking about.
I think it's better stated

"The important thing is that Apple may mainstream the purchasing of video content legally"

As before the ITMS existed there were legal music sites you could purchase music from such eMusic, listen.com, etc. What Apple did was make it easier for the mainstream consumer to buy that one new U2 song they liked without having to buy the entire album and also easily transfer it to an external device. Apple of course had the marketing budget to sell the idea, while other vendors with lesser marketing budgets kept trying to extend the capabilities of thier players and gain market share.

Currently there are legal methods to get video content on to a wide variety of portable devices, but they aren't mainstream and probably being used by early adopters. Apple obviously has made it easy and will be able to market the service better than Cinemanow, etc.

The bigger question is how many more new iPods will Apple sell? Is there a pent up demand among people wanting to get video content that can be watched on two inch screen? How many current iPod users are going to want to spend the money to upgrade.

Personally I think it's great that Apple is trying to push Ondemand primetime programming, but I don't thing they revolutionize it…
My point is that nowadays anytime a vendor comes out with small form personal computer, the Apple zealots immediately start saying it's a copy of the mini mac. When in fact smaller companies have been developing such computers years before Apple.

I didn't check vansmack's link before responding and it was not the type of pc I expected it to be. And correctly myself to say that the pc's Shuttle has been building and selling are closer to the design of the mini mac.

Sorry, I should have been more clear.

The oqo came out the same week as the mac mini, and despite the clear technological advances of the oqo over the mac mini, nobody paid attention because it wasn't from Apple.

That's all I was saying.

But the mini mac was just a step along from the G4 cube….

As for the thing Vansmack posted. Its a palmtop. looks a bit like a speak and spell or an apple newton. Actually it looks like an ill fated psion. Its "hella" expensive too.
