so……how was the food then?
Last time I went it was only slightly better than the attitude of the wait staff, which was vile.

nope the area sucks.
Actually you can head over to Del Ray, right up Mt. Vernon Ave and only about 5 minutes in a car and there are several restaurants that are good.

I wanted to get up and beat the crap out of the dude who wouldn't stop clapping. It was really rude. As for the food, the nachos were actually quite good, the pizza wasn't great though. The upside was getting a fairly decent table and Henry went on promptly at 7:30. You gotta love his punctuality.

what do u think of henry's dysfunctional schtick? he's really well adjusted [aside from examining and tasting the components of puke] and a good guy some how i dont go for the whole persona he puts out of being dysfunctional wreck. i bet he is or would be a good friend and bf/husband.
thoughts?
what r his books like? insightful?

Henry a good husband or best friend? No way. It's no schtick. He is very much a good guy, but definitely a loner and the type who would not want to be held back by others. His books are pretty insightful in that regard. I think he's too busy living life to worry about anyone else except himself. It's an attitude that might puzzle some, but I personally think it is great. I admire him for it and I think that there's something healthy about being your own best friend. Not that someone else can't be a focal point in your life, but it's important to keep the balance. Henry on the other hand probably has a ton of friends, but they are more like acquaintances…people that he sees a few times a year. I'd bet money that at the end of the day he's the king of his castle and that's it.

Based on his books I've read, I'd say he's a good guy who's a dysfunctional wreck. The books are a bit hard to get through sometimes. Way too much "woe is me, the world is terrible, all people suck except me, nodbody understands me, everyone around me is weak and pathetic, blah blah blah".
The books come across like he has a good heart, but he's got this huge wall of anger and bitterness around him that both blocks everyone out and prevents him from opening up a bit.
The very few exchanges I've had with him were always pleasant though. Had I not read the books, I would think he just just a nice, normal guy. I was looking forward to his Black Cat show, until I discovered I could go to the Foo show. By the time I got that worked out, The Birchmere was sold out.

Nothing against you, dude. Just don't have much love for Henry Rollins, after reading a couple of his books and sitting through his lolapaloser appearance a number of years ago.
