Secret Machines

And I don't think that 18th Street on a Friday night is an accurate reflection of the life of a typical 20-something. More like the reflection of those 20-somethings who choose to hang out on 18th Street on Friday nights.

And just because most people do something doesn't make it "normal". And just because most people do something doesn't make it a good decision. And just because most people do something doesn't mean it should be encouraged.

Again, I refer you to 18th Street on any weekend night – in 2005. If you ask me, there are MORE 20-somethings out there than there were 15 years ago…

Just because you're now 38 and have different behavior standards (or even if you always had the same behavior standards) does not mean that the entire world has changed with you…

i don't want to distract us from making badsushi look like the idiot that she is, but i was having a discussion about 18th street a couple of saturdays ago from the vantage point of a friend's roof overlooking the madness:

how many people do you think are on the strip during the most crowded moment of the evening? 5,000? more? we guessed that there are as many people on the street as there are in bars/clubs when the night is at it's craziest
I never walked down 18th st on a Friday or Saturday night in my 5+ years of living in Adams-Morgan, so can't help you there.

Badsushi is no more of an idiot than the rest of us.

I said nothing about encouragement or good decisions. And I'm sorry, but most people doing something does make it normal when you're talking about what is normal behavior. Alas, it's normal behavior to treat your family members badly sometimes. Sorry, it's normal. Neither a good choice nor encouraged.

normal: "according with, constituting, or not deviating from a norm, rule, or principle b : conforming to a type, standard, or regular pattern"

A couple times over the past couple of years I've been on a bus going up 18th Street around 2:00 or 2:30 a.m., and it is downright scary. It looks like there's some sort of riot or event going on – certainly thousands are out on the sidewalks and in the streets, most looking for taxis. And more than you'd think eating those humongous, head-sized slices of pizza. Scary scary!!!
If 18th Street isn't a reflection of normal behavior of a typical 20-something, try Georgetown, Capitol Hill, Dupont Circle on a late Saturday night… These places may not be a mob scene the same way 18th St. can be, but those typical 20-somethings are all doing the same thing there too.

I'd say thats pretty "normal" behavior.

Hoya, my child-man who thinks he's the smartest guy on earth: Do you really believe everything the "rock journalists" (hahahah) write? And, who are you to criticize Josh Garza's opinions(IF that's even an accurate quote.)

It must be hard to be the only intelligent, non-drug experimenting (albeit nicotine isn't a drug to you), oh so cool 24-year-old wise-guy on earth. Thank God you're gonna become a lawyer. When you're nominated for a Supreme Court seat one day, they'll drag out all the "I hate everyone" and I'll insult them in any way I want-rantings you posted here…and THEN justice will be served.

Um, a second ago you claimed it was slander to say the band used drugs. Now you're claiming Hoya's the only guy on earth who doesn't.

<img src="http://www.ctv.ca/archives/CTVShows/images/20031210/LawOrder-bio-Waterston/LO_Waterston_235.jpg" alt=" - " /> says:
"So, were you lying then, or are you lying now?"
let us all not forget the first Hoya posting were whining about big strong guys hitting on his girlfriend at the Interpol concert and DC9 afterwards.

we need to find that thread again. its like a real ugly baby picture.

?? He didn't make any judgement on drug use, just noted that they did a lot. Which is a fact apparently substantiated by the band itself…
whats so bad about drugs anyway?

So it is now your position that "everyone uses drugs but Hoya" and that "everyone who uses drugs" includes the Secret Machines, but reporters don't know that so they're making up rumours, which just so happen to be true?

Immaculate.
i use drugs. occasionally. :)

Secret Machines were fantastic. Seemed better than last time, if only because they've gotten even more dynamic……they really know how to build and structure a song live so that it becomes much better than the recorded version.

Someone said they dragged a little bit, but this has been true each time I've seen them. It's not dragging to me, it's just adding to the dynamic. S/he was maybe referring to the Dylan cover they did (on their new EP), but I loved it; seems they purposely slow things down so they can get back to crescendo level.

Kol? Poseurs. It's not a coincidence that the British press is in love with them. Those tight jeans and ironically gelled-to-look-naturally messy hair styles make them all about the look, which is maybe supposed to distract you from the fact that their music is repetitive. They are sound more and more like a bad version of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers each time I see them.
Badsushi, mentioning an uncontrollable desire to punch Hoya in the nose is a "threat of physical harm". Following through on your desire would be considered actual physical harm. I think 9:30 should have a picture of you to keep watch for. While Hoya may display so called "anti-social" qualities according to you, at least he isn't threatening to punch someone because he can't handle an insult.

Good Danny. Then what's your problem?
And there are many, many more thousands of 20somethings who either don't have the disposable income to blow on such scenes, or just simply choose not to partake in such boring conformity.

thanks for your pov. I think everyone at 930 knows who I am, so a photo is unnecessary. There's a history here which is quite funny. You'll find it in past threads.
