My mom usually listens to stuff like Yanni and Enya, so I hope this was a push in the right direction. Also gave her some Billie Holiday, Chet Baker, and Cassandra Wilson. Said she liked them all, but you know how moms are.
I always wished my dad had lived long enough for me to more fully share my love for country music with him.

quote:
Originally posted by jadetree:
I did the same thing.

Oops didn't mean to bash Mankie's favorite lovemaking cd artist, Enya.

She then got the Rod Stewart singing American classics cd for xmas that was just awful. I gave her Wilco (YHF) as well, and she seemed to like it.
bah ha ha
making fun at your mom's expense.
bah ha ha ha ha

Haven't see videos or interviews with either of them, but in their music, Norah comes off as a woman whereas Fiona comes off as a pouty girl.

quote:
Originally posted by BookerT:
norah jones is fiona apple with a full frontal lobotomy.

Is Nick Drake too close to easy listening to you?

quote:
Originally posted by markie:
ah well then give me the pouty girl everytime.
Norah Jones is a bit too close to the easy listening section for my liking.

I do like Nick Drake's songs but they are about as lively as a morphine drip.
I dont really know Nick Drake well enough to comment. But if thats what Thirsty says, well I trust him.
Lambchop seems rather close to easy listening. Though in my book that's not necessarily a bad thing. They have the same jazz-country inflection as Norah Jones. What's the difference?
And she's nicer to look at than Kurt Wagner…
that third week in june is the jazz and blues festival at wolftrap..interesting choice for that saturday nite

Norah always sounds a little too sweet.
Personally I quite like watching Kurt on stage, I think he is an impressive performer. In a low key way of course.
I cant comment on Norah.
