Stone Temple Pilots opening for Butthole Surfers.
Try sitting through the Stone Temple Pilots' grunge-derived radio hits followed by Independent Worm Saloon-era songs sung by a fat and drunk (yet glorious) Gibby Haynes.

That was the night we met Markie & Lulu, right? And GGW I think also.

Speaking of Andrew WK… when his show was cancelled in Baltimore at The Thunderdome, or wherever, and they included him in as the headliner with Adam Franklin (ex-Swervedriver) at The Ottobar. Totally different crowds and styles of music especially when you consider Adam's much more mellowed down sound compared to his Swerving days.

Not sure if this is totally applicable to the thread, but one of my HUGE pet peeeeves is when a solid to incredible veteran act has to "open" for a new kid on the block with a hot single, ie.
Ash opening for The Bravery (when it was an ASH show no less), Sonic Youth opening/co-headlining for/with Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Pretty Girls Make Graves opening for She Wants Revenge, Muse opening for whoever the fuck it was they opened for a few months ago, Placebo NOT headlining whatever the phuck Linkin Park's tour is called AND co-headlining with She Wants Revenge, Dresden Dolls on that silly emo/boy band tour last year, Stereophonics opening for some douchebags I can't remember, ANYONE opening for the Killers, etc….

yeah - but remember there was a reason that Ash opened on that night. Something about the guys in the Bravery's families being around for the show. I dont remember the story, but I know it had something to do with that. I dont know about the rest of the tour. But yes - I generally cant stand that.
Stereophonics opened for Howie Day at 9:30. Half the crowd was gone when Stereophonics were done.

I believe it was the first Monkees' tour. They outsold the Beatles in '65 or '66. Whenever. The Experience opened only a few dates for them before they were kicked off. Hendrix (less surprisingly) was also in Little Richard's band for a period.

Would you sit through Collective Soul, Live, Breaking Benjamin, and Seether to see one of your favorite bands? I'm faced with that dilemma.

I'm not going to snob your music choices 6949. Those are all fine bands. Anyhow, if you're going to see Three Days Grace, I think they're going to be the second to play. I think the line-up will be: Seether, Three Days Grace, Collective Soul, Breaking Bejamin and then headlining, Live.
