spoon cancels so they can play with the shins at merriwe

I think a lot of people in this town would be really happy if Spoon played the 23rd at the club in addition to the Shins gig.
I hate to ruin some folks' fairyland perception of the music biz, but a support act is booked to sell tickets

playing the next night for less kind of defeats the purpose

IT IS A BUSINESS

THERE IS NO SANTA CLAUS

BABIES COME FROM THE STORK

well, at least that's how that last one was explained to me

Sorry, I forgot that it's your party.

i'll be the first to admit that i'm super gullible, but refer again to this link to dcist and note comment 26. i'm inclined to believe this…?

(please don't throw things at me!)
If it's not legit, it's a hilarious fake.

I bet pitchfork would eat it up and report it without checking to see that it checks out.
The grammar and spelling are way too correct for it to be a real rock star.

Britt is a total geek. Of course he knows grammar and punctuation. *sigh* I love him :) He needs to marry me.
Oh, and do you think I should hang onto my ticket for the 23rd just in case the MPP show sells out and they can do the show on the 23rd? Or is that just wishful thinking? I have until November 7th to mail my tickets in for the refund anyway…
If that happened, they could sell tickets to ONE Spoon show at a higher price than they were getting before. Would make great business sense!

WTF? He posts there where they scoop this discussion 5 days later and not here! Fuck him. Now I definitely wouldn't go to Merriweather if I was a Spoon fan. And not because of of the shows being moved - because he has a poor understanding of where important things really happen in vurtual DC.

dude, if he's not a member here, he couldn't even read this thread to know what's going on. on dcist, he can read freely and post as a guest.
I forgot to use my sarcasm tabs again.

[sarcasm]That just shows a lack of effort on his part.[/sarcasm]
Will this thread never die??

I bought Spoon tickets at the club, so of course didn't get an email. And I've been out of town, so have just learned of this via the email blast.

Monday shows suck, and Monday shows in MD. Shit.

Though, I think IMP is doing the best for folks who bought tickets – considering I paid $21 at the box office, and can upgrade to Pavillion for only $10 more, which is the same as a new lawn ticket.

But, of course, I have no desire to see The Shins. Actually, when I first read about the change, I assumed The Shins were opening for Spoon. Not kidding about that… ;)

OH SHIT, THAT'S RIGHT! It was the Ponys I wanted to see the MOST!!!!!

Man oh man.

there's one very simple solution. If you get just hammered enough, being in the GA pit will be an experience akin to the floor @ 9:30
Except that we have to drive 45 minutes home. No 'hammered' on that Monday night…

[Clearly I've been out of town and am just reading all of this, responding very late…}

I haven't finished reading the whole thread, but you know this whole switcheroo is not just IMP trying to fill a bigger venue. This is a big opportunity/boost for Spoon, too, to play to a crowd of 15,000 rather than two nights at the club. And while I can hear some of you whining that it's unfair to play to a bigger 'disinterested' crowd rather than a small club of dedicated fans, don't you realize it's the JOB of a band to BUILD its fanbase???

And for Spoon, gambling on Shins fan is a pretty damn good gamble.

Anyone want to sell a set of Spoon tickets for face value?
If any of my posse don't want their ticket, I'll sell my $20 ticket and you can exchange it for a $30 pavillion seat (or Pit).

Speaking of Pit, does this mean they're reserving the whole pit for club ticket holders?

Also, when do pavillion seats go on sale? How do we get a good seat (my seat position may determine whether I go…).
can the shins really fill mpp? seth probably had to beef up the bill. can the shins and spoon really fill mpp?
