pretty shitty game overall
Not for skins fans. Pretty great if you ask me. I'd hardly call 10 points scored "picking them apart". Sure the skins offense didn't do squat, but the D made the big plays when they needed to and your guys didn't. End of story.
expert analysis chaz, thanks for your insight
Always happy to shed some light where little shines.

But how can you say the bucs picked apart the skins d? I'd hardly call 200 yards passing and 75 yards rushing a dominating performance. The scheme gave the bucs the short passing game so they could take away the deep ball, which they did. Simms averaged 4.4 yards per pass….hardly earth shattering or dominating.
i never said it was either earth shattering or dominating …. all i said is that they picked the skins D apart, which is what 16/18 is, picking apart … you're absolutely right that they didn't give up the big ball and that the skins D played great, made stops when they needed to, and forced turnovers, they really did … but the bucs played their typical "pick em apart" west-coast game on offense that gruden loves to run, a lot of crossing patterns and under 7 yard passes, they just couldn't get the bomb to fall when they needed it …. oh, and galloway had 7 catches for 69 yards, surely not dominating, but he was definitely not taken out of the game

i give the redskins D a ton of credit, they played a very very good game, i just think the game was decided not by the skins D (as all the headlines say), but by bounces … the bucs forced fumbles and tipped passes as well, but the fumbles just didn't bounce their way and the tipped passes went into the ground, instead of acting like slap shots from a defenseman tipped and redirected by a power forward into the top corner of a net

anyway, i'm done, it was an ugly game that didn't turn the way i would have liked it, congrats to the skins and i hope your offense gets better quick

speaking of the national media, this has been getting to me lately … does anyone else find it frustrating that ESPN is basically the only major national outlet for sports news? sure there's SI, sporting news, and tons of others out there, but ESPN basically dominates the national sports scene (radio, magazines, TV) and turns their opinions into one big echo chamber … the echo chamber is more pronounced with things like college basketball (dukie V and the ACC adulation is just too much to handle), but it really cuts across to all sports … just gets frustrating after a while
Why oh why didn't Lawrence Taylor do the world a favor and break Theismann's vocal cords?
The ESPN Sunday Night Football Drinking Game

i think i've subjected you all to my rants about the sunday night football crew before, but this drinking game sums them up pretty well:

â?¢ Set yourself up with a minimum of six beers for the three-hour game. If the Ravens are playing (and they are just about every other week), grab eight.
â?¢ Take the assigned number of swigs â?? about the equivalent of one ounce, or 12 swigs per bottle/can. Do NOT drink when Paul Maguire is speaking. You might spit it up.
â?¢ If any of the "chug" criteria is met, you must finish your beer, even if you have to take a leak really badly.

DRINK WHEN MIKE PATRICK…
1 - Raves over the offensive line on a three-yard run
1 - Says a player is one of the best in the NFL when you can name 10 others at his position who are better
1 - Says the home crowd is making it too loud to hear, even though your neighbors can hear him through your TV
1 - Says "What a day in the NFL!"
1 - Says "Are you kidding me?!"
1 - Describes a play as "unbelievable," "amazing" or "incredible." Important: the play itself does not have to be remotely unbelievable, amazing or incredible
1 - Refers to a player as "one of the all-time greats"
1 - Calls a player one of the most underrated in the league
2 - Makes you lower the volume
2 - Says "Let's go down to Suzy Kolber. Suzy."
Chug - Says "Let's go down on Suzy Kolber. Suzy."
Chug - Breaks your ear drum

DRINK WHEN PAUL MAGUIRE…
1 - Prefaces any analysis with "I'm a tell ya what."
1 - Says "I'm gonna tell ya something" right before actually telling you something
1 - Says the word "watch" more than twice on any instant replay, as if you were doing anything but watching
1 - Says something you didn't already know
1 - Admits to being scared of Ray Lewis
1 - Says he talked to a player/coach earlier in the week
2 - Calls Theismann "Joseph"
Chug - Calls Theismann "an idiot"

DRINK WHEN JOE THEISMANN…
1 - Utters the phrase "like a Bill Parcells."
1 - Mentions his own playing career
1 - Points out a flaw in a quarterback's mechanics, whether or not the replay backs it up
1 - Says "What impresses me most about…"
1 - Mentions Notre Dame in any capacity
1 - Says he talked to a player/coach earlier in the week
1 - Says "If I'm the [insert team here]…"
2 - Offers a team advice "if they wanna win this game," as if they're on the fence about whether or not they want to win
2 - Refers to his punting career (one punt for one yard in 1985)
2 - Predicts a penalty that goes the other way
Chug - Refers, again, to any historical genius as "Norman Einstein."

DRINK WHEN…
1 - Ray Lewis is mic'ed up
1 - Ray Lewis is mentioned when the Ravens aren't playing
1 - A special-teams coach is said to have done "a great job"
2 - One of the three announcers accuses another of avoiding dinner checks
Chug - A drunken Hall of Fame quarterback hits on a marginally attractive sideline reporter
Chug - The Ravens are playing and anyone but Ray Lewis is mic'ed up
Chug - Any of the SFL crew mentions Ray Lewis' criminal record
Does anyone watch that game sober??? I mean…..how could you?

how else would you describe 16-18?

by "pick apart" i don't mean "dominated" or "kicked ass", i mean they "picked at" the skins defense and methodically moved the ball … the skins came up with some great stops when they needed them, and overall they played a very good defensive game …

whatever, it's a football euphemism for moving the ball steadily and consistently, you know what i mean
picked apart and picked at are a little different.

at least the Buccaneers didnt allow 5 unanswered goals on Saturday ;)

now THAT is picking apart!
Can someone explain what a "burner" is?

The wings allowed 6 yesterday. They better not allow that shit tommorrow when I see them in Raleigh.
i've seen that guy a couple of times, but i can't believe how much camera time this guy gets … every game at least a few shots:

that would be my man jurevicious in a man sandwich with the a-train …. i think jurevicious was one of the best free agent deals of the year, the seahawks really hit the jackpot with him, i'm pissed we didn't resign him …
