Yeah!!!!! Go Bucs!

Hey hey hey, We're the Buccaneers
Ho Ho Ho, We're the Buccaneers
Offense, Defense
Now we're here to say
Make the Redskins walk the plank
Throw'em in Tampa Bay!!!!
quick question for you american football fans, this week there was the NCAAF final between the top two ranked teams. I don't recall the coverage and attention these games received when I was in the US, but from abroad I can see that it doesn't receive as much attention as the NCAA basketball finals. I am not talking about coverage in the foreign press, but from sites such as yahoo, nyt, espn… is it that the NCAAB is far more popular or is it the playoffs format?

The playoff format and the hype surrounding it make a large part of the difference. March Madness and it's ease for gambling make even the uninterested, interested. Smackette won't watch a single College hoops game all year, but she will fill out a bracket and watch any game where she has a team still alive.

But I think ABC did a pretty good job this year with the BCS bowls and their ratings were way up. Good matchups and good games. The Final games are closer then you think: 34.66 million viewers for the Rose Bowl, 37.5 million for the NCAA Hoops final last year. It's hard to compare the March Madness viewing to all the Bowl games because the early round hoops games feature prime teams, compared to the weak matchups of early bowl games. Add the holiday time business and the ratings won't be close. But the 4 BCS games draw a comparable audience to the entire NCAA Tournament, which is surprising to most (both draw between 100 and 110 Million viewers).
man, that was ugly. fortunately, there's no column in the stats for pretty. go skins!
skins won!!! ahahah sorry Buc fans better luck next time!

Growing up with the Bucs in the 80s when they SUCKED and their colors were frickin' red and orange, I can accept any loss.

nope, think you got the wrong photo, i can't believe a camera was around to catch one of the skins' 10 positive offensive plays

that game came down completely to bounces and luck … all the professional columnists and prognosticators are claiming it was the redskins defense, but they were pretty much picked apart in the second half, the bucs defense (on the other hand) put together one of the best performances i've ever seen … the turning points were just lucky bounces (brown's, cooley's, and marcus washington's fumbles being recovered by skins players, the missed call on arrington's fumble after his INT, etc, etc) … pretty shitty game overall

I don't think it was luck when Sheperd dropped the game tying touchdown, or when Simms overthrew him on the next play. The Bucs just didn't execute, and when they didn't, the Skins capitalized.

When the Skins didn't execute, the Bucs failed to capitalize.

Accept your loss like a man, especially after you started the trash talking.
Yeah. Don't be a Leinert.

Not for skins fans. Pretty great if you ask me. I'd hardly call 10 points scored "picking them apart". Sure the skins offense didn't do squat, but the D made the big plays when they needed to and your guys didn't. End of story.

And btw, that photo is from the game earlier this year…skins were in all white yesterday.
Do the Glazers own the Bucs? If they do then. HA HA HA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HA HA HAHAHAHA You fat ugly TWAT!!!!!!!!!!!!

perhaps instead of "luck" i should have stuck with "bounces" … this game was decided wholly on bounces, and i'm sticking to that …

a) simms' two picks were off of tipped balls (hats off to the skins D-line)

b) how often do you see a return like the one off of cadillac's fumble?

c) the refs missed lavar arrington's fumble after his interception, easy call badly muffed

d) the bounces from antonio brown and chris cooley's fumbles landed them back in skins hands … it's not like the skins "wanted the ball more" than the bucs, the ball just bounced their way

the bucs offense completely outplayed the skins offense, the bucs defense turned in one of the best performances i've ever seen (especially in the playoffs) while the redskins defense was good but not dominating, and special teams was a wash (maybe even a bucs win with their kickoff returns) ….. when it really comes down to it, the game was decided on the way the ball bounced

as an insane fan of the bucs, hoyas, lightning, etc, i understand accepting losses, it's just part of the sports territory … but i also understand when the press takes a "story line" that works well for them and runs with it, even when it doesn't hold much relevance (here it's "stifling redskins D suffocates bucs"), i'm just trying to offer what i see as the real storyline of the game

the bucs offense picked apart the redskins defense … simms was 16/18 in the first half, and really had a very good game, the bucs offense moved consistently on the redskins D, especially in the second half … the skins D certainly played very well, but their scheming and talent is not the reason the game was won

expert analysis chaz, thanks for your insight
Dude no doubt the bounces went the skins way. And stop crying about the national media not giving the bucs d their propers. Everything I hear pretty much says that the skins were lucky to win.

But how can you say the bucs picked apart the skins d? I'd hardly call 200 yards passing and 75 yards rushing a dominating performance. The scheme gave the bucs the short passing game so they could take away the deep ball, which they did. Simms averaged 4.4 yards per pass….hardly earth shattering or dominating.
simms had such a high completion percentage because they couldn't throw the ball downfield. the redskins were glad to give them all those underneath passes. their secondary was beat up/retarded and they still made galloway a non-factor. i think he had like 5 passes of more than 10 yards, and three of those were to tight ends/running backs. they did NOT pick apart the redskins defense. they played entirely into their hands, actually. simms had 198 yards – 168 net yards – on 38 attempts. that's fucking terrible, actually. not as bad as brunell, obviously. but still pretty bad.
