Bankrolling Billy's new house

My wife read in the Chicago paper that Billy Corgan just purchased a 7 million dollar house in Chicago.
So please do you best to go to his poetry show. He needs to pay for this house!

Did she read this as she was running the marathon, if so, that's even more impressive.

Let's face it, anytime we attend a show we are paying for someone's something, whether that be their house mortage, alcohol stash, etc.
I don't mind (unless it's prohibitively high) - after all, I am getting enjoyment in return (which is rare these days in any circle!).
Cheers
DJ Medusa.

Isn't there something un-rock and roll about a rock singer buying a 7 million dollar house?
I'd rather listen to music made by people struggling to make ends meet.

Rhett recently stated that if you averaged the $$ he has made as a musician in his career, his salary would come out much closer to a schoolteacher than a doctor or lawyer.
I guess marrying a model probably helped bankroll his house in upstate New York.

You're limiting yourself that way. Why would you let something like success limit your musical tastes? Just as commercial success isn't necessarily an indicator of talent, the converse also applies.
Talk about being so hip it hurts :)

I said I'd RATHER listen to music made by non-millionaires. Doesn't mean that I wouldn't.
For instance, I'll happily listen to some old Tom Petty, though his early stuff is best.
"Despite all my rage, I am still just a rat in a cage"
Have you ever heard a dumber lyric? If he's a rat in a cage, why live in a house at all? Just go live in the jungle….or the sewer.

How can you even decipher the lyrics emitted by his whiney voice?

Not to always play devils advocate, but if you look at the lyrics to even their best songs they are a bit shitey/not as good as greenday.
Today is the greatest
Day I â??ve ever kown
Canâ??t live for tomorrow
Tomorrowâ??s much too long
I burn my eyes out
Before I get out
I wanted more
Than life could ever grant
Bored by the chore
Of saving face
Today is the greatest
Day I have ever known
Canâ??t wait for tomorrow
I might not have that long
Iâ??ll tear my heart out
Before I get out
Pink ribbon scars
That never forget
Iâ??ve tried so hard
To cleanse these regrets
My angel wings
Were bruised and restrained
My belly stings
Today is
Today is
Today is
The greatest day
That I have ever known
I want to turn you on
I want to turn you round
I want to turn you on
I want to turn you
Today is the greatest
Today is the greatest day
Today is the greatest day
That I have ever known

Hey…I'm not saying Bald Billy is the Bob Dylan of the flannel set. I just don't see success as a reason to discount anyone.
But I will agree that going to see Billy do poetry doesn't meet my idea of entertainment. At least Jewel has nice hoohoos to gaze at. Billy just has all that scalp. Ick. :)
