I don't think it's much of a secret that I listen to more pop music than most on this board. I give anything a chance…
95. CREED â?? HUMAN CLAY
111. RADIOHEAD–OK COMPUTER

Yeah…
as with most lists there some true gems on it… but overall there is a bunch of overstated hughly selling titles here. isn't St. Peppers considered by some to be the most over rated of the beatles releases?

This is considered Definitive?

Top Gun Soundtrack
1. Danger Zone - Kenny Loggins
2. Mighty Wings - Cheap Trick
3. Playing With The Boys - Kenny Loggins
4. Lead Me On - Teena Marie
5. Take My Breath Away (Theme) - Berlin
6. Hot Summer Nights - Miami Sound Machine
7. Heaven In Your Eyes - Loverboy
8. Through The Fire - Larry Greene
9. Destination Unknown - Marietta
10. Top Gun Anthem - Harold Faltermeyer/Steve Stevens (TRUE instrumental)

How about whats missing from this list as a start…

Depeche Mode - "Violator", Crowded House - "Crowded House", Garden State Soundtrack, etc

A while ago, I was fairly surprised at how high this song was on the Nike+ running list, but thankfully it has since fallen out of the top 10. I thought, are there really that many middle-aged male runners out there with the complete Nike package? Surely nobody else would want to run to that song.

Then I thought to myself, they are probably the only one's that could afford a Nano, Nike+ and the nike shoes required to go with it…

On some real shit, though. I love where Thriller is at. (Best album ever made in my humble opinion, we'll get on that another day) I love that where "Dark Side" is as well. There should be NO Aguilera (she's a GREAT singer & one of the better ones out, but she is not releasing anything that belongs in any top 200 countdown - unless it's TRL's greatest hits), no Creed-NONE!, that's not even Santana's best album, wrong Metallica album (even so, much as I fucks with Metallica NONE of their albums belong in the top 50), love the Stones entry, Kenny G . . . .ahhh, fuck it. Thread starter correct. This list does pretty much suck ass . . .
This list is about sales more than you think you know. It was authored by NARM: "The list was chosen by a committee of music retailers within NARM." The banner gif even alludes to quantity over quality:

<img src="http://www.narm.com/images/D200Banner.gif" alt=" - " />

"You" are the retailers that belong to the association, not music fans who stumble onto the website.
Regarding Rap Album Placement: who the hell would actually rank Will Smith's "Big Willie Style" ahead of "It Takes A Nation of Millions…?"

That list just gets weirder as the numbers get higher….

That's the kinda bullshit that'll make me get to revoking folks' hip-hop licenses.
director - did you have a peep at the NARM director & staph lists that beetsnotbeats posted? is there really any question why these people would be all over big willie style, and threatened by Public Enemy? i can assure you those people were never licensed for hip hop. should be a crime.
At least this list is better than NAMBLA's Definitive Top 200.
since this board can't get enough of "best ever" lists: http://acclaimedmusic.net/ is a meta-list of other people's best albums and best songs lists. "indie" bands did rather well in 2006:
