And I suppose Spyrogyra just missed the cut!
If the list looked any different it wouldn't be NARM.
26. ALANIS MORISSETTE â?? JAGGED LITTLE PILL â?? 1995

FUCK YEAH.
but shouldn't the acoustic re-release from 10 years later certainly be #27? or maybe even higher!?

Now there's the first sensible idea I've heard all day!
Why care about lists like these? Look who wrote it. You can't criticize because its someone else's opinion - most "best of" lists are.

Wasn't the acoustic version exclusive to Starbucks, at least at first? They're not a record store (or are they?) so I don't think they would belong to NARM. NARM and its members often get pissed when artists release exclusives at non-record stores. A couple of years ago, Tower pulled all Lenny Kravitz stock when he released an exclusive at Target.

Well, it was mostly copies of his new CD that wasn't even selling anyway, so I don't think Lenny alone brought down Tower.

A former Annapolis manager said he loved the irony of a customer complaining about high prices while drinking a $5 cup of coffee (he agreed about the CD prices, however).

You know, I get tired of all the jokes about how expensive Starbucks coffee is. Saying that a "cup of coffee" costs $5 at Starbucks is completely inaccurate. You can get a cup of actual brewed coffee for about a buck fifty at Starbucks. It's the specialty espresso drinks like lattes and mochas and such that cost four or five bucks, and those kinds of drinks cost that much no matter where you go. Whether it's a little independent coffee shop or a corporate chain like Starbucks or Carribou, you're going to pay around $5 for those drinks. So when I see Starbucks getting singled out time and time again, I get a bit annoyed.
I guess definitive is NARM code for any album that allows us to keep our doors open… It's safe to assume all those albums are platinum, which would explain why none of the early R.E.M. albums made the cut.

But who goes there just for regular coffee. I always go to check out the chicks.
That may be true, but at the end of the day, Belle and Sebastian are still a popular band, and Bright Eyes is still a dork. Oh, your eyes, they're so bright!

With the exception of the Kenny G album and Metallica-Metallica, I have every album posted in this thread - most of them in vinyl. I rather enjoyed most of them at one time or another in my life.

Of course I do, although Smackette likes it a lot more than I do. I wasn't actually referring to the list, I was just referring to the albums mentioned in this thread. There are ~50 albums on that list that I DON'T own.
