Velvet Lounge set times?

Okay, I'm hitting the Lounge tomorrow night to see The Tyde after Fort Reno. Does anyone have an idea (or educated guess) as to when they might go on? I don't know if it's pretty standard at the Lounge for the headliner on a weeknight to go on at 11:00, say, or it varies a lot night to night, etc.
Man I just hope they go on *reasonably* early. (Mondays are usually not good nights for me, plus I'm prepping for a big european jaunt on Wed.!)
Thanks for any help…..

Amsterdam and Berlin for about a week and a half. I'm quite excited – I've been to Italy a bunch of times, but haven't been to such a fine beer-drinking region yet!
I was hoping to check into cool music summer festivals, but it just got too difficult to roll into the planning. My sister's going with me, and she has a tighter schedule than I do.
Alas, the crappy part of such a cool trip is getting work done before you go. Yuck – I'm going in at 7:00 tomorrow. *Not* my best time of day!

Oh, the Hardcore Tour. Bags, I never thought that you were the type.
It's always the ones that you least suspect.

Bags, be sure to check out a bar called Tacheles in Berlin. I believe it's in the Kreuzberg district. Very arty, very cool. Stay away from the fire breathing dragon! Also, the Turkish market in Kreuzberg is a fun place. There's another cool bar called the Roter Salon. Unfortunately, I don't remember where that is.
There's a great pizza place in the Charlottenburg area off of the Ku'Damm called the 12 Apostles. The Judas pizza has all the toppings. And, of course, the Pergammon is the top museum in Berlin. The "east side gallery" is one of the longest stretches of the Berlin Wall left.
Berlin is such a cool city. Have a great time. Where in Berlin are you staying?
Viel gluck und bis spater!

Might I also recommend the Tiergarten (a great park near the Brandenburg Gate), and the Berlin Zoo (located right next to "Zoo Station" which U2 named their song after).
And don't forget the Fernsehturm – a huge East Berlin TV tower, Gedachtnachtskirche – a bombed out church that stands as a memorial to the horrors of WW2, etc. etc.
Oh, and as for beer, an Augustiner is always tasty, or you could go for the Berliner Weiss – they add syrup to beer. And no, that's not a shandy.

Back to topic, the official line is that doors at velvet are at 8, first act at 9. That said I have been outside the velvet lounge at 9.30 before and they havent been open. I cant remember their cerfew time, but the velvet lounge always seems to run up to it.

(1) Thanks for the Germany tips!! I'm noting them all and will see what I can fit in. [FYI, we're staying at the Bleibtreu Hotel in Kurfürstendammâ??. I have not a clue where this is, my sister made the arrangements.] But, we'll be in Berlin for a good 5 days, so we should be able to see a lot.
(2) Think I'll call Velvet Lounge, though I don't see them be super helpful about the times. But thanks for the info, markie – I wondered if we'd fully lose the initial question of the thread!

The Deathray Davies just updated their tour dates on their site (
www.deathraydavies.com ) and it doesn't show. Although they do have a show scheduled for 8/24 @ velvet lounge.

Goddamn it. I called Velvet Lounge and there were two opening acts, so the Tyde was scheduled for midnight. On a Monday. Sorry dudes, I have a job that takes some concentration! Just can't do it. Thank goodness someone posted earlier today that The Tyde will be back in late September at Black Cat (opening for Nada Surf, which could be interesting). I will see them then, though it's a bummer to miss a Velvet show – seeing them with like 70 people.
sheesh. This is the drawback to mid-30s compared to mid-20s, a certain level of responsibility.
If anyone saw them, would love to hear some reviews, good or bad (I can either look forward to the show in Sept if they were great, or feel alright about missing them if they sucked).

tyde sucked. limp-wristed wuss rock. as for the black cat show w/ nada surf, yah right. fletcher's would be a great (for the bands) place for a one-hit wonder and a never-has been/will-be.
but you missed out on sounds of kalaediscope. nice pop tunes.

I enjoyed both bands, although I couldn't understand a word Sounds of Kaleidescope were singing. The Tyde were great.

sounds of kaleidoscope were reasonable, I got the impression that they hadnt done too many shows before. They seemed pretty nervous to me.
The Tyde were great. They played most of my favourite songs of theirs. I did think it was odd that the sound at the start was great and it slowly deteriated over the length of their show.
Oh and Ikarus the tyde are psychadelic pop, with bitter songs about user friends and drug taking. But what were you expecting from a band called the tyde?
perhaps you should stick to seeing bands with "death" in their name from now on?
