Oct monster tours for MoveOn.Org

Apparently the Moveon presale for Bruce is already over.

Moveon for PJ is tomorrow, as the fan club sale was today.

I should get an email from Moveon, but haven't.
I've heard (friend of a friend of a friend of a …) that they started sending the emails last night. I don't know of anyone that actually received one yet though.

-edit-

that was referring to the Bruce/REM presale, so Bags may be right.
Snagged 11th row for PJ/DCFC in Reading, although I may have gotten closer had I noticed the occupation deal at the bottom of that stupid blurry word page.
So what's the deal with this contractor/employment restriction? What does it say?
there is also some kind of ticket lottery going on for the bruce show being held… did moveon have to give preference to those in swing state for tickets? who the hell knows i'm for reading and unlike several people at the pj forum can't complain about my seats i still get to see them. i'd like to see the bruce at cobo hall show, it's about the size of the balwmer arena.
We picked up 5th row floors for Reading (on McCready's side of the stage). Also picked up rear floors for Reading. Thank goodness for the 10 Club.

By the way, moveon.org's presale is tomorrow but you had to get a password from moveon. They've already been sent out and each person has a unique password. It's a cool way to make sure that passwords don't get distributed too much.

General onsale is Sat morning.

I loved the first two Pearl Jam CDs and liked the third one. After that, I'm luck if I can pick out one or two songs I really like. But their live shows still are some of the best I've ever seen.

I'm surprised no one's stoked about seeing Death Cab for Cutie. I'm more excited about DCfC than I am for PJ.
this what you had to agree to buy tickets…

By checking this box you represent and warrant that:

* You are a United States citizen or permanent resident alien.

* You are making this contribution from your own funds, and not from funds of another.

* You are making this contribution on behalf of yourself as an individual, and not on behalf of a corporation, labor union, federal contractor, bank or other party.

* You are not a federal contractor.

* You are making this contribution on your own personal credit card, and not with a corporate credit card or with a credit card issued to anyone else.

* You are at least 18 years of age.

and as eros points out it only applies if you the company, consultant, directly acting as a federal contractor. employees of contracting firms are allowed to donate…
i'm pyched about the whole show in general :D
I didn't get a password, so I guess I'm out of luck. Tickets for the Philly show are already going for $1300 on ebay. How much did moveon charge?

I have a friend who got the Moveon presale email, and it was for today at 10:00 a.m. (for Bruce, tomorrow for PJ) – but she wasn't interested in using it for Bruce and got it to another friend too late to use. Presale was sold out by the time he got it sometime this morning…
if it weren't for all you god damned democrats around here, DC would be getting some of these shows.
Isn't Virginia a conservative state? DC would never get a show; we don't vote. It's those liberal Marylanders….

So how much were tickets?

virginia is not for lovers!
they'd probably have to have the show at the roanoke civic center or something, not NoVA.

Thanks for the explanation, kosmo.
i was talking with the wallflower about all this moveon.org hoo-hah and he told me that just about everything they've done this year is illegal under campaign finance law, but no one seems to care to do anything about it.

I find that VERY hard to believe. As if the GOP machine can't handle it, somehow. They'd be all over infractions like grass stains on a prom dress…
I had a MoveOn.org password and got "pre-selected for the pre-sale" for the 10/1 Bruce/REM/Bright Eyes show in Philly… I logged on at 10 am this morning through their website, OK'd the disclosure conditions, requested my two tix ($78.50 + $6 in service charges each), got two "page busy" warnings, and on my third try (somewhere around 10:01:30 if you're keeping score) was told that there were no more tickets left.

I kept trying until about 10:15, maybe 20 times in all, but no luck.

I probably won't try for the Pearl Jam/Death Cab for Cutie show in Reading, which has its pre-sale tomorrow (8/20) at 10… if anyone wants my MoveOn pass, let me know. Can't say you'll have better luck, but it might be worth a try.
They do get a hell of a lot of money from foreigners (I've seen figures as high as 40% cited), but I believe that is because the campaign finance laws overlooked the fact that 527s would attract a lot of foreign money. It's a legal loophole.

i'll ask him again. . mind you, he's supportive of moveon.org's policies and slant, but is amazed at how illegally it's spending and raising it's money.
