1. What was David Cronenberg's masterpiece?
eXistenZ is cool, has Jude Law and Jennifer Jason-Leigh but I have to go with Videodrome for haveing the always brilliant Debbie Harry.
2. What was George Lucas' masterpiece?
THX-1138 (was already choosing this because of the cool car chase). Saw it on tv as a kid and could never find out the title for 10 years.
3. What was Stanley Kubrick's masterpiece?
Full Metal Jacket. We watched this 4 times straight in college. Intense. Sad that the DI is now doing that History Channel stuff (and he is a real ex-DI).

More queries:
A. What was William Friedkin's masterpiece?
B. What was Lars von Trier's masterpiece?
C. What was John Boorman's masterpiece?
D. What was Robert Aldritch's masterpiece?

BTW, Kubrick had 3 back-to-back films which fit the master designation. While quite an okay flick, Full Metal Flogger wasn't among those.

You earned a half credit each for Von Trier & Boorman.

Hint: Aldritch worked a lot with Lee Marvin & Ernie Borgnine.

Friedkin directed the French Connection, right? The exorcist was his masterpice though. Unless you loved the TV version of 12 angry men
von triers breaking the waves was alright.
boorman:
http://www.theavclub.com/avclub3502/avfeature3502.html I like the ambitious failures…. Exorcist II and Zardoz. The later being a hipster movie.
robert aldrich?

http://movies.yahoo.com/shop?d=hv&id=1800052243&cf=info&intl=us another film I had never heard of.
I didnt realise Friedkin directed 12 angry men. It is one of my favourite movies. Its simplicity really lets the characters come through.

Half points because otherwise ggw would win for Zentropa & Deliverance. Kubrick's a triple-master. Truth be told, Boorman, von Trier & Aldrich are double-masters.
fine let stinking GGW win!!!

never seen it. It sounds like quatermass on more halucinogens. I have seen the Morrissey recommended Rita Tushingham movies "a taste of honey" and "the leather boys".
