Hoya are those your personal faves or are you in journalistic mode? ;) (Never can figure out if these lists are to be personal or rated picks)
Best Album(s) of 1997
how the hell can y'all remember what was released when? shit, I can barely remember what was released in 05, let alone 1997

BTW if you're looking for a talented Elliot Smith protegee, check out Andrew Morgan. "Misadventures in Radiology" is an awesome disc. Legend has it that he recorded most of it while crashing on Elliot's couch, so the connection is there. Hoping he hits DC at some point soon.

Yeah color me stupid for forgetting Portishead and Homogenic.
Also Takako Minekawa - Roomic Cube
I was pretty disillusioned with rock that year.

Or you can get itunes to display the year a record was released and then sort by year.
Dandy Warhols: Come Down
Brian Jonestown Massacre: Thank god for mental illness.

FIELD DAY 2004….I can't remember if Elliot played during Blur's set (which along with Underworld and Radiohead's sets were the only bright spots in an otherwise awful day) or during the worst Beastie Boys performance in history. The B-Boys only added insult to injury after coming on early to offset Beck's cancellation after he got wasted, tripped, fell, and was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. It's a good thing that Radiohead was so awesome, otherwise, the crowd might have started burning Giants Stadium Woodstock '99-style.

I didn't listen to Grandaddy or Dropkick Murphys but I believe they had albums out then too.(?)
I think this is their most overlooked album, perhaps because it has a different theme then the others. I wished they had done some of the songs of this when they played DC9, I would have loved to hear their cover of Those Memories.

My thought as well. Though I remember 1997 was the year that I moved to DC, so I can match a few musical things with personal events.

How long has the forum been around? I remember a discussion somewhere about how this cd was highly overrated for its price.
Originally posted by brennser:Also I prefer '97 to '05 music thus far. ;)

what a great year for music…. a lot of memories in there.
Brian Jonestown Massacre-Give it Back
The Beta Band's The Three E.P.'s deserves a mention.
Oasis – Be Here Now
Oh wait, I was fucked up on coke when I listened to that. Oh wait, that was the band. What a shite record.
