Roll Call: Sonic Youth

I shall be there.

Any thoughts on the opening bands? I just noticed White Magic is also opening for Fiery Furnaces at The Black Cat. I tried allmusic, but after waiting about 30 seconds for the front page to load, I bailed. Are they worth arriving early?
I'll be there as well.

White Magic were pretty great the one time I saw them. Very folky/bluesy, in my opinion. It's not high energy, by any means, but (not to sound like a broken record or anything) Mira's voice is enough to send chills down your spine. I've already got my $$$ to pick up their EP this time around.

Don't know anything about Magic Marker, though.
If anyone's got word on an extra ticket, I'm all ears.
well. i was GOING to go, but again, if thirsty aint goin, i aint goin.

that said, i "might" go tonight.
I'll be there.
Just swing on by. You'll get a ticket, I'm sure. Besides, it's not like you can't just hop on your INSERT NAME OF IMPRESSIVE NEW BIKE HERE and make it to the club in no time. No pain, no gain.

I'm losing dignity by the minute. I just told someone I'd marry their russian girlfriend to keep her in the country for a ticket.

If you're serious about that offer, I know someone who would take you up on it, but I doubt they have any extra Sonic Youth tickets.
I'll be there…I think this is about the 9th time I've seen Sonic Youth.
does jim o'rourke tour with them too? (this will be my 1st time seeing them since '95)

Yes.
Yep…he's an honest-to-goodness full time member of SY nowadays. Since NY Ghosts & Flowers, if I'm correct (or at least toured with them since that time).

Looks like I just scored myself a ticket sans Russian mail order bride. Sorry Petra, maybe next time.

That's too bad, I'm sure Petra could have scored you some great seats at the next Gorky Park concert.

I believe that to be a totally fictional event.
I shall be there also. :D
Anyone know what they've been playing on this tour? Of course mostly the new record, and I think a few tunes from Murray Street…I've also heard that "Sugar Kane" has been popping up. But if anyone knows if there will be some other surprises, I'd be curious to know. Thanks!

Actually, the band as of 2000 were still playing gigs, albeit with a hodge podge line-up. Those bumbs Metalica pulled out of a co-headlining Red Square gig in May of 1999 though, may have taken the wind out of Gorky's sails.
if someone has an extra free ticket, will pack for me and get me drunk and drive me home, i'm totally there

Teenage Riot, Kool Thing, and Bull in the Heather were played a bunch out west last month.
