One friend who has seen Steve Wynn several times says he is brilliant live. Baltimore City Paper gives a thumbs up to the show. I probably will go to the show in b-more friday.
My buddy Ed Neenan is warming up that night and The Mojo is my second favorite place to see a show these days. So I'm considering it as well, might even eat another one of their yummy burritos again.

While you're there, ask Steve the owner if Pernice Brothers are coming back in Sept. Maybe they'd have it posted on the board in the back. Likely it would have to be sometime between Sept 15-17.
Is this in addition to the Ottobar show on Sept 18th?

Another cool Ottobar show just announced.

Tommy Stinson & The Figgs, The Figgs, Jake Brennan & The Set-up
Doors at 8pm/ Show at 8:30pm- ALL AGES
Yes, wondering if they are playing DC in addition to Baltimore. They are playing in Florida on the 14th, Baltimore the 18th, and in Vermont on the 20th. Iota and Black CAt are both booked on the 19th, so presumably if they were playing down here it would have to be between 15-17. Most likely the 16th or 17th. Possible other I-95 stops might be Atlanta or Athens, and Chapel Hill or Raleigh.

Can we yell out requests for G'n R songs?
Just come to 9:30 tomorrow night… Hazel always puts on an awesome live show.
I used to substitute teach members of the Figgs back in the early 90's.

only after the rest of the audience has been tossed for requesting replacement songs
Is Hazel one of the members of Cafe Tacuba, or Bio Ritma?

I think he is referring to Sister Hazel who is playing tomorrow night, Rhett.
Ah. I think I have a friend who will be at that show, but we won't.

you should go to the live on penn show on saturday. only three bucks. the highlights for me are de la soul and robert randolph. randolph at 9:30 club last december was probably the most fun show i've ever been to. highly recommended!
the walkmen are playing the black cat tomorrow night. i also think that is the night of Queercore, a new fun(?) dance night at the black cat. also, minus the bear are playing on sunday at the 'cat, and they're great. i haven't seen them live but i'm curious as to how they'll be.

and happy birthday!

well that does it for me, I'm in. *yawn*

do we need another folk-pop duo? and have there been ANY good bands from Chicago.

and what are the other folk-pop duos that are satisfying the need?

I supposed we need another flirting with indie, yet still bland enough to be mainstream rock band for you?
There have been tons of great bands from Chicago. Wilco and Robbie Fulks are two of my absolute favorites. I'm sure we could start another thread listing dozens of great Chicago artists. Cripes, half of the Bloodshot roster is based in Chicago, and they're the best label going, in my opinion.

elvis brothers
house music

but than again the smashing pumpkins came from chicago which negates anything good that came from there.

As much as they make Chicago seem like home, I still consider Wilco as from Belleville, IL

What about the band "Chicago"…were did they come from? ;)

you could go see The Liberation at Firehouse Grill in Fairfax, VA tonight with the Lime Twiggs. The Liberation are apparently, I've never seen them, a local Acoustic Punk-Ska band.
