Life expectancy for an American male in 2003 was 74.8 years. It seems that the "middle" part of that would be 25-50.
There was an interesting article in the Post the other day about redefining middle age…not to be a measure of how much of your life you've lived, but of how much of your life you've left to live (based on life expectancy).

My wife gets pissy when I refer to myself as "middle aged".
From Wiki (according to this, it's your third quarter of your life, so the first quarter must not count, if the third quarter is the "middle"):
Middle age is the period of life beyond young adulthood but before the onset of old age.
Various attempts have been made to define this age, which is around the third quarter of the average life span of human beings. According to Collins Dictionary, this is "… usually considered to occur approximately between the ages of 40 and 60", The OED gives a similar definition but with a later start point "… the period between youth and old age, about 45 to 60." The US Census lists middle age as including both the age categories 35 to 44 and 45 to 54. Erik Erikson sees it ending a little later and defines middle adulthood as between 40 and 65.

I'll bet 99% of people in their upper 50's would have a bone to pick with you.

I'll just speak for myself, rather than either include or exclude anyone from a particular category, but if you're still carded regularly and are accused of having a fake ID once you show them you are "of age," which I'm constantly, then I don't think I'm anywhere near the middle regardless of what wikipedia or anyone else says. I'm under 40, and I'm planning (well trying to be proactive on the physical and mental health fronts) to live at least twice that…but as we know life can get snuffed out in a moment, so phuck it call me whatever you want..

Early to finish, I was late to start
I might be an adult, but I'm a minor at heart
Go to college, be a man, what's the fucking deal?
It's not how old I am, it's how old I feel

I get carded often, and I look much closer to middle age than 21. Some places card anyone who looks under 40.

I'll be pre-showing at Duffy's, watching some football. I'll likely have either a bright orange shirt that says ORPHAN on it or a shirt that says I HEART HOT MOMS on (If all goes well with Brennser and I haven't had time to get to my hotel, there is an outside chance that I may have a Man U kit on). Feel free to introduce yourself. The barkeep knows who vansmack is so you can ask him as well.

Um…United is done at 1, few drinks, I'll probably try to get to Duffy's for the end of the second half of the NFL games - like 6?

Damn, I wish that I could make this show! The Vansmack show, that is. BRMC would just be a very nice addition in comparison. I have a gruelling week coming up and would love to switch one for the other but, alas, that luxury is not an option.
I'll tip one for you Smackie at the Walls of Soundfest.

I'm sorry I couldn't make it to Baltimore Jag, but this is a tight trip. I promise to return soon…
