Art Brut Roll Call

Hahaha, that show was so much fun. "Art Brut, are you ready?!"
The first opening band sounded really good too, but I only caught their last few songs.
What did you guys think of the show?
"READY, ART BRUT!?"

I think it's my new morning chant! Wake up, stand, "READY, ART BRUT!?"

Great show, they are a band having fun. Not sure about their longevity – it was a lot of the same sound, but for a few minutes shy of an hour, that sound was a blast.
that show was so much fun in every way. they were massively entertaining.
Great, great show…I had to drag my ass there on a Sunday night, but had a hell of a time.

They were incredibly entertaining.

I knew Eddie would be great, but was surprised at how good the band was.
it was a good time. even before i saw ian svenonius walking around and the lead singer of art brut mentioned both nation of ulysses and the make up, i felt like it was very similar to a show by the make up. in that you know you are witnessing something utterly ridiculous and sometimes hilarious, and it really shouldn't be working, but the band is tight and the songs are really good and the lead singer has charisma to spare and it just clicks.

agree w/bags on the longetivity thing, though. not sure where they can go from here, although it seems like they might be talented enough to pull something off that's a lot less shticky.
best moment of the performance:
when he used the microphone cord as a jump rope.
frickin' genius!
Ready Art Brut??…..GO!!!

I enjoyed it so much, I'm growing a moustache.

I think my favorite part was the disappearance into the crowd and ending up back on stage. That or when he hung the mic over the rail and sang into it from below. I also enjoyed the top of the pops banter.

Sal and Bombay, pleasure meeting you both as well.

Sorry about not getting back to you - I posted this and then the board crapped out. I hopped on a plane, and wasn't able to check again until a couple hours before the show.
no worries, I majorly wimped out last night, despite there being three shows that I wanted to see, all of which turned out to be good shows

then again, it was nice to spend a quite Sunday evening in w/ my honey - life has been a little too hectic lately!

That's funny.

Smackette and I have to come to DC to spend any quality time together. Life has been hectic in SF too. That's why we motivated and went to the show - why not, we're on vacation was the attitude! A good choice too.
One last thought.

As I continue to salvage whatever is left of my lungs in Tryst this morning, that smoking ban can't come soon enough in this town. Just awful.

Yeah, I was wishing it had been a Saturday night show…would have been fun to have a few more beers and stay out after the show, riding on the high energy vibe. Kinda sucked to go home and try to get right to sleep, prepping for another Monday at work.
That was the best show I've seen in quite some time. I agree it was hard to go home and go to bed after that.

Here are some pics if anyone wants to see them:

I'll be at the Ottobar show tonight. How were the openers?

Loving the moustache, the dimple and the Dave Grohl teeth. ;)

Wonder what they sound like. Who's got a good audio link for me? Or should I just MySpace them?

you too. i'll be sure to get in touch if my SF plan pans out.

fun show. wouldn't mind catching their set again at coachella.
Ridiculously entertaining and entertainingly ridiculous.

LOVED it.

One of the best shows I've seen all year.
the Art Brut CD remains only available as an import, it's listed as coming out in here in May at Amazon. however, it's been available as an eMusic download since May of last year. not that i keep track of such things :D
I'm surprised everybody thought the show was so great. I thought it was pretty good, but there was an aura of fakeness about Eddie. It didn't seem to me like he was really that into it; he was just acting like he was. My buddy had the same reaction. Maybe it was because he was too sober like he said. Or, maybe it was because I was expecting too much as I love just about every song on that album. Or, maybe it was all another part of the elaborate ploy to make fun of pop bands. Anybody else notice this?

I, however, did have a great time, and was very impressed with the talent of the band.

You definitely have to check out the Robocop Kraus. They were awesome. The lead singer is hilarious, and definitely very into it. You just have to see it.

The Rogers sisters I thought were ok musically. But, they definitely weren't attempting to get the crowd involved, and were too focused on themselves. It was like they were at odds with the crowd without giving them a chance to dig the music. They just sort of played a few songs and left. Very forgettable.
i don't remember the last time i was smiling through an entire show
