Just Announced Commentary

Apology accepted, even if following it with a lengthy defense of your actions makes it seem halfhearted. I apologize for not controlling my anger better.

I read this board, and I see people talking about trips to Spain, sushi restaurants, fantasy baseball, tv shows, soccer. March madess, internet porn laws, and anything else under the sun that people feel like talking about. It seems like this is more or a rock community chatboard about any and all topics, rather than a music board.

I tend to go to a couple of shows a month, almost always with my wife. If I were single or married to someone who was more of a music scenester, I'd probably go to more. Whether I go to a show or not is directly impacted by what my wife wants to do, and thus being pregnant and having a child in the future is going to impact my every decision regarding shows. I've been a Smiths fan for 20 years, I've never seen the Smiths or Morrissey. I do like to go to shows at Wolftrap, but as I was pointing out, I'm not sure if it's a wise decision to take a one week old.

I have a number of friends who are having children or who have had children. If I mention anything kid related, they find it wonderful and precious. And when they talk abou their kids or pregnancies, I find it the same. Because you are not my friend, I don't expect you to be the same, but you could be more gracious.

People babble on this board about all kinds of annoying personal things. You're right, I have in the past responded to such annoyances in an inappropriate manner. But I think I'm doing a better job of ignoring such annoyances as time goes by.

And lastly, the responsiblities of being an aunt is not even comparable to the responsibilities of being a mother. I'm sure you didn't mean to imply that.

Nope, I didn't mean to imply that. Though it will impinge on how many shows I see.
Peter Frampton - Live at Belmont on 8/26. Strange, or appropriate booking?
this "feud" seems entirely too mannered

the atp vs the fans and atp @ primavera look ridiculous. i'd love to get something like that here, even if i wouldn't like half the bands.

ATP LA 2004 happened (november 6th). i'm not sure/don't remember about any others.

there was talk of an ATP near NYC… it was planned to held at Princeton but obvious never got off the ground.
You know, Mrs. Buckman, you need a license to buy a dog, to drive a car - hell, you even need a license to catch a fish. But they'll let any butt-reaming asshole be a father.
It seems like the men who are least equipped to be parents are the ones having five or six kids (often with multiple baby mamas) these days.

I wanted to see that one. I'll have to put in on the Netflix queue if ever there comes a time where life necessitates a Netflix membership.

"we" need to work on getting these things on a semi-regular basis on this continent!

I think I would do an ok job with more money/venue support. I curated a much more modest fest last year with virtually no money, granted with more locals than an ATP would have included. We are actually working hard to get some "old" DC artists for this year. But it won't be anywhere near an ATP sized event. Not yet anyway…
I once went to a bachelor's party in Vegas where one of the planned events was a Kenny Rogers show. I'm still pissed about it! I'm pretty sure I still owe the organizer the $75 the ticket cost and he's NEVER going to get it from me!
