Apparently for Soccer Moms and Nancy Boys with WAY TOO MUCH expendable income. $40?? WTF!
Dave is for the children
Is a Ben Gibbard solo show uglier than a Death Cab show?

I would think not; if you're under the impression the DCFC guys are ugly – and I'm not disagreeing – then certainly no matter how ugly Gibbard is solo, there's a multiplier effect if you get all of them together.
Are you sure it's not additive?

Or perhaps you would compare Gibbard to the mean of the other three?

I would say it's a multiplier. One ugly girl is bad enough but three of them together is worse then the three apart in rapid succession.

We could compare Gibbard's ugliness to the average of the other three, but I don't really see what it has to do with this.

Oh, man, if we're counting the entire lineup then there's so many interesting mathematical angles to consider. We have to consider ugliness vs. time as well. We have to compute the ugliness of each act compared to the time we have to endure them, then sum them together for a total night ugliness.

Someone get to work on this and post a picture of the equations.
morrissey at wolf trap should be fun

heh, that's funny… earlier this evening i started a post calling for an equation with the dimension of time added in, but thought best not to post it since the geekdom on this list is sure to actually produce something that i'd rather not see.

but since we're now down that path anyways: what about distance? closer to the stage = greater impact of the total ugliness? does ugliness follow an inverse-square law, like acoustic or gravity?

FYI, the summer schedule of shows at the Filene Center at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts (what a mouthful) will be announced on monday 3/26 at 10 AM…
A friend of mine went to Blowoff one evening thinking it was Bob Mould playing old Sugar songs.
I'm not loving that the Morrissey shows are Monday in DC and Tuesday in Baltimore. Less likely for me to try to make both, to get two different types of shows. But I'm not complaining.

Now, about being stuck with early show tickets for Ben Gibbard because I got out and got tickets in a timely fashion…….

'Lie group E8' math puzzle solved

PALO ALTO, California (AP) – An international team of mathematicians says it has cracked a 120-year-old puzzle that researchers say is so complicated that its handwritten solution would cover the island of Manhattan.

When stored in highly compressed form on a computer hard drive, the solution takes up as much space as 45 days of continuous music in MP3 format.
[Uh, highly compressed form of what? What MP3 quality?]
Any clue on Morrissey ticket prices? I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO at the NorVa show.
dear moz,
a metro accessible show between the third and the ninth would be chill.
love,
a miserable seventeen year old
yeah, I'm more jacked about the Police than Morrissey, but both are ok with me.
Probably not so much with a one or two week old…
