Sex Pistols- the rotters sell out.

here's a couple of reviews from the Boston show brought to my attention by Jadetree the wet blanket.

makes the thing sound good. I am starting to get so excitedThat I already have on have my white bondage shorts, along with my "for soldiers prostiutes dykes and punks t-shirt".
This is gonna be such a hit or miss show, but just the fact that i never expected to see them in my lifetime makes it worth it.
hit
Defenite hit!!!!!!!!!!!! Great show!!!!!!! Put all those new punk wannabee bands to shame.
Hit. I thought they played a great set, sounded great, were pretty much spot on for all the songs. Johnny was in great form.
Walk-off home run to beat the Yankees.
Great show, and best of all I get to relive it today with my aches and pains and ringing ears, was a lot of fun on the floor.
The show was excellent. After the '96 debacle and the lukewarm review of the Boston show, my expectations were kind of low, but were handily exceeded. I'm far less sore than I expected I would be.
How long was their set? I wish I would have gone, but $40 was a little steep for a band that I didn't get to see when they first came out (damn that being in a younger demographic) and one that I was a bit ambivalent about seeing live. What songs did they play? Did Mr. Rotten himself have any sassy comments? Do tell.
can't believe how bruised i am………good show though……..much better than i expected………….

Pretty much the entire "Nevermind the Bullocks" plus "No Fun" and "Belsen was a Gas"…John was in fine sneering bug eyed form, not sure what he had against that one bouncer though, cared enough to run over and tap him on the shoulder and berate him…heh…

the only great bit of the show for me was at the end of anarchy…..

the crowd was all singing along…..

"cos I want to be anarchy"

and Jonny goes, "well why fucking dontcha then"

I think they played the whole of never mind the bollocks and not much else.

What happened to GGW, one minute he was towering over me, the next, he was gone. I am really sore today joining the melee with sunburn was really one of the most painful things I have done in a while.
Show clocked in at 1 hour. I didn't think it was that loud, great volume for the club, but didn't go over the top. Now if the original PIL would tour I would be in heaven.
the love handled ones need to back in the studio and put a new record out… the establishment could really use a sex pistols provided kick up the backside. and didn't steve jones's guitar sound ace through the 9:30 sound system… johnny was in fine grimacing form as well and what a rhythm section.
Jones' guitar through the 9:30 system? Most of that was friggin' stage volume. He plays LOUD! But they made it sound great. Just plugged into the amp, no pedals.
the band was tight, focused, and in good spirits throughout. steve jones was in total control laying down classic riff/understated solo after classic riff/understated solo. i actually would have been happy if it was louder. mr. rotten seemed determined to show that he is not a joke (funny, but not a joke), that the pistols are still relevant, and that punk is an attitude that has nothing to do with age or what you wear, and the case was definitely made. glen matlock looked cool and paul cook looked like he was desperately trying to hold on while nailing every song. it was the band playing all their songs stripped of all the bs, or at least w/ limited good-natured bs.
I agree, it was fantastic. Haven't seen the 9:30 Coub with that kind of energy in a long time. And I say that even with the group of 10 or so aging frat guys to my right being kinda stupid about the show.

The floor, by the start of the show, was sopping wet with beer – I thought that was great on a Sunday night! The 'mosh pit' was the entire front section of the audience, and the band was excellent. I thought I'd probably enjoy the show, but I was really surprised at how tight it all was. They played for an hour, well worth the money.

I almost saw PiL 4 times, 3 times they showed up, once (at the Ontario Theater over on Columbia by Adams Morgan) they didn't show up before our high-school butts had to leave. Never saw the real lineup just Johnny and some hired guns. Still were great, would love to have seen Second Edition with Jah and Keith.
