I’m fine with the general narrative of the night. Of the ten best picture noms, Nickel Boys was the best (secret of the sacred fig, rap world, or la chimera is the best actual film of the year) but Anora is my third place behind NB and Brutalist and above the acceptable line. Love Sean bakers earlier work — wish he was winning the Palme/Oscar double for Florida Project, Take Out, or Red Rocket — but this was still a good one.
No major disagreements tonite. Lots of talented people who made art I loved won and got trophies and that’s cool. Much better than EEAAO or CODA year.
