Rolling Stone's tagline for Seth is now "Veteran Concert Promoter" - that makes him sound more like my dad's old buddy from high school who could score you sweet Zep tickets than the guy who owns and books the 9:30.

it used to, but that's before i was really goign to shows a lot. i HATE alley katz. i've been there once and it was a terrible experience. it's almost as bad as the ritz (now called disco rodeo) in raleigh nc. the flood zone has been gone for nearly 10 years now. twisters still exists. it closed down for a bit and someone else bought it and it was called 929 cafe (i went to one show thre) and then that closed and now it's open again as nanci raygun. doesn't get anything really big (well, for its size), but it still has shows every week.
the nanci raygun occasionally has some really good shows, i saw the walkmen there fall 2003, unfortunately richmond crowds just suck. a lot.

i've seen a few shows at alley katz, it's not great but it's decent. that's my opinion at least. the sound isn't so great, but maybe that's cos i'm always standing up front.

the only show i've been to at that site (regardless of the name) was american analog set and her space holiday. i was bored out of my mind. i was only there because i was recording it for a friend. there's just nothing really that comes to richmond that i want to see, so i haven't yet really had the chance to see how much richmond crowds suck. and i don't forsee myself having the opporunity to find out anytime soon.

Did no one see this post?
we're all too busy ranting to listen to anything rational.

i didn't see it, but there wasn't much to the post so it was easy to miss.

actually that was a misprint

it was supposed to say "veterinarian" promoter after a discussion of some of the dog shows we had
saw the new video for interpol ("evil"), and i was kind of surprised … i figured this song had a shot to break them into the mainstream, very catchy, almost "float on"-esque … the video, however, was really disturbing, a puppet-like character singing in front of this horrific car accident while paramedics work in the background … i don't think that's getting any play on MTV1 any time soon =)

by the way, subterranean was really good this week:
interpol "evil"
bloc party "banquet"
the kills "the good ones"
animal collective "who could win a rabbit" (don't like the album, love the song)
ted leo "me and mia"
death from above 1979 "romantic rights"
Does anyone know anything about the pre-sale? Interpol's website says it's on 2/4, but I'm on the mailing list and haven't heard any details yet.

from their site:
The full set of US dates for March have now been announced. Tickets for these shows will go on sale on February 5 with a presale starting at 10am local time on February 4. There are a limited number of presale tickets available and you must be registered to purchase them.

register here: http://interpolny.musictoday.com/Interpol/calendar.aspx
is the presale information going to be in the weekly email from the 930 club or is it being sent from interpol's website?
9:30 Email Blast is a good bet.
I disagree…sounds like an Interpol pre-sale to me, so you'd have to get the password from the band's website/email.
could someone, once ascertained, please pm with the password?
For Interpol in the past (with the exception of the one Bowery Ballroom show), all you had to do is sign up with Musictoday. Not super exclusive.
Check y'all's email…930 is the bomb!
thanks for the notice of the presale. Back to the state of the union
.
Not surprisingly, I'm wrong….. 9:30 club emailed the password.

But. my question – do you think I'll really have to buy a ticket for the Friday show during the presale? I think I'm risking a trip to the box office tomorrow night. If I miss out, no stress. Seen 'em twice last year…

Don't go tomorrow night, the pre-sale is only for Friday, Feb. 4, 10am - 10pm.
duh…thanks. Luckily I'm not too concerned about this one…
I did not get my weekly email. Can someone forward it to me?
