bands whose name does not suit them.

Ever let a misconception about a bands name discourage you needlessly?

I thought the Detroit cobras, would sound like whitesnake.

How foolish I feel.
Badly Drawn Boy - when I first heard of him, I assumed it was some electronic act.
massive attack
Gorkys Zygotic Mynci
And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead
the dixie chicks
Guided by Voices?

Guided by bad taste, that would make more sense.
Exit Clov..that name wouldn't suit any band!

we aren't talking about Radiohead, and if you ever saw a room full of your average GBV fan you would not call them hipsters

they have enough fans to fill a room? It must be like a David Blaine box?

I decided to put it more softly. There is a good number of Guided by Bad Taste fans in the board, and in the past a few of them haven't taken that well comments about GBBT.

Actually, I think people have taken them fairly well, although it still amazes me how you can form such a strong opinion based on 1 night

really. . .oooh, they don't sound like the pixies, ergo, they suck.
some people think otherwise. I love it when hipsters are in denial.

Off the top of my head I have come up with a Top Ten Most Deplorable Hipster Attributes (this is not confined to one area of identification, but rather spans everything from what they wear to what views they hold and where they reside, and this is by no means set in stone): Here we go!

10. Hails from the Midwest, lives somewhere in Brooklyn.

9. Owns at least two Guided By Voices albums.

8. Firmly believes that Ralph Nader should have won the 2000 presidential election.

7. General arts over-education (i.e. has either designs to attend graduate school, is in graduate school or has gone to graduate school)

6. Parents shoulder some of his/her financial burden.

5. Owns at least three too tight T-shirts adorned with dated symbols (usually fuzzy or shiny/decal) with which he/she has absolutely no knowledge or connection.

4. Can readily and willfully recall the theme song from at least one television sitcom that was cancelled before his/her birth.

3. Will consciously muss and/or neglect to wash hair in order to achieve a 'look.' (male only)

2. Is of the opinion that 'Pet Sounds' is the greatest Beach Boys album (a comment generally follow by this statement): 'rivaling the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.'

1. Insists on calling movies 'film,' insists on calling concerts 'shows.'

I don't take the GBV jokes badly, I just think y'all are out of your gords.
Well I can say that GBV is better than Superdrag, now there's a band with no stage presence.
