And that sounds like the pithy bleating of a screaming goat-faced toe who thinks herself clever by equating opinionated criticism with smirky hit-and-run-away verbal suckapunches. You spend waaaaay more time here than he does.

If you go back and read that thread that ggw posted, you will find that there were quite a few board members who found the Broken Social Scene show rather underwhelming. This even despite the fact that at the time they were critical darlings. This even despite the fact that most people on this board seem to be predisposed to gushing over most of the bands that they go see (no surprise there…one usually picks shows to go to by bands that one is predisposed to liking.)

Thus, it seems like the board response the that show was one of being underwhelmed.

It seems that I have taken the general board feeling regarding this show (as well as the fact that their album was horrid) and attributed it to myself. Thus, I admit my mistake, though it's really quite inconsequential…it's like forgetting whether you saw some third rate movie, and you're like…"Did I see that movie or not?"

Ahahahaha… great job there Rhett: make shit up, then when someone calls you on it, accuse them of paying attention then attack their post count.

I can assume N'Sync is a horrible live act, and could have everyone and their mother tell me they are, but you'll never hear me go, "Oh, that time I saw N'Sync, totally blew. Justim Timberlake was missing all his dance moves!"
Well perhaps that's why you're writing such insightful reviews for a nationally treasured music website, and I'm only a poster on the 9:30 chatboard.

Actually, if you saw the number of german porn sites that link to us, you'd more aptly refer to us as an "internationally treasured music website," but we'll excuse your misgiving, you never have had much of a grasp on reality.

not so much…

looks like "the Relaxer" needs to relax…

and sorry if this seems "hit and run"..I actually have a job to do and so can't devote my full attentions here

We were *at* that show, but left before BSS actually took the stage (were not inspired to stay by the preceeding acts, some of whom were part of BSS, probably coupled with the crowdedness and smokiness of the club)

Moreover, the general consensus of the board posts that were recollected imprinted in Rhett's memory that the show wasn't good…he's merely the product of the collective consciousness of this board, actually…

Which is the scariest thing, from my perspective…
Only one poster made negative comments on the Broken Social Scene show. It's funny how that is considered the "consensus."

On the other hand, four people left positive comments.

BSS were fantastic. The material was incredible live. I thought the album was great…but live was even better. Surprisingly, one of the better shows I have ever been to.

I liked BSS a lot though. I thought they definitely kicked things up a notch compared to "You Forgot It In People". All-in-all a great show.

one of the better shows i've been to recently.

I for one, was very impressed with BSS. Clearly these are some talented folks.
So, positive reviews outnumber negative reviews by the margin of 4-to-1, yet that 1 negative is being held up as the consensus.

That's a government statistician for you…….
And you've never had much of a grasp of how to write a music review. Is this the best you can do?

rhett , you are focusing on the wrong part of the story. you claimed a show was bad, when in reality you never saw it. i believe you admitted your mistake. end of story really.

it would be interesting to know which posters made each comment, since, perhaps the comments of certain posters are weighted more than others when being considered by certain other posters…

why did you not post the one negative comment?

Is Drag It Up really the best Rhett Miller could do? I hardly see the point in throwing my best effort at things when no one else involved does.
maybe it was the negative Post review, as well as the fact that Pollard didn't even feel like they were worth staying for. And Bags' review was that they were so-so, when it's generally a given (to me) that Bags is usually generous in her critiques.

Why review a modestly selling 7 month old album at all? Don't you have sense enough to pick something a little more relevant? Weren't there some German porn sites you could have been visiting?

So reading the newspaper review and listening to others opinion of music, even though you constantly claim thier taste to be insufficent compared to yours, made you actually believe that you were at the show and it was bad?

why are you still trying to defend yourself?
