Concert Etiquette-Tall people

Who unfortunately, is normally me. I'm always one of the tall (6') jerks up front because my girlfriend is about 5'1''. I say unfortunately, because #1 I've always felt it was bad etiquette and #2 I hate showing up so damned early.

The worst people though? The meatheads who push their way up front for the headliner in front of the 5' girls who have been there since the doors opened.
actually the worst would be the drunk meatheads who push their way to the front an hour into the show and threaten to punch a girl in the face (regardless of height) who won't budge to let them in for said reason. this happened to me sunday night in fact…

Right - but that's just rude behavior - no matter how tall they are. They're not much worse than the chain of hand-holding girls that think they can just push their way to the front because they're cute.

Since when is this considered an acceptable form of humor? Am I the only one that finds this offensive as hell? Maybe I'm just overly sensitive about this issue. I could never imagine making a reference like that in front of someone who lost a family member on the terrible day.
I'm mixed on this one. I tend to think that of all the annoying things people do at shows, "being tall" isn't the worst thing and that they should be allowed to stand wherever they want to enjoy the show without being guilted into the back of the room. Though, if you're over 6-4 or so, it's probably better for all involved to move back a bit - unless you enjoy getting the evil eye all night.

I usually stand pretty much anywhere and just make sure that there's no one in my immediate vicinity getting blocked (I'm just over 6').

Oh God, the PC alarm on my computer just went off….I bet you wouldn't have been offended if I said "they go down like the Bismark" would you.

But anyway, I digress. If a lofty one walks up and stands right in front of me right before a show starts and I've been stood there for ages I usually tap them on the shoulder and ask them to move, if they don't I tap them on the shoulder again and tell them to move. If someone happens to stand in front of me blocking my way, but not in an arrogant manner I just move to one side a bit.
the only problem i have with you tall folk, is when i've been there for a while and you park yourself directly in front of me.

Lately i've had issues with a bunch of rapunzel motherfuckers who literally have hair to their waists or knees and don't put it in a pony tail and it gets all over everyone.

most horrifying was the wilco show last october and i went to take a sip of my beer, only to have my hand and said beverage cocooned in someones hair
the problem with letting "just the one short person in" is that they are usually there with about 5-10 others and now you have to move far from where you were to let the whole train of people in (or they will talk through you as they are now two groups). I don't go too far forward, the sound sucks up close, but I don't want to move from a good spot because others feel they are entitled to that space because genetics was not as kind (I am shy of 6 feet).

Yes these are the ones who irk me but of course they aren't the ones who are reading this thread.

concur, it's not appropriate but sadly apparently acceptable
Could we please use a more politically correct term than "midgets"? ;)
Again, how tall is considered TALL?

Anyone taller than yourself!

Agreed. You can refer to the top of this dictionary page for synonyms such as little person, hobbit, dwarf, bitch, ass, or whore.
Depends on what county you're in. In Sweden, you must be 6'5" to be tall. In the US, 6' or more. In Asian countries, over 5'.

Again, per the dictionary :

Height categories (men):
5'1" or under Midget
5'2"-5'3" Very Short
5'4"-5'5" Short
5'6"-5'7" On the short side
5'8"-5'9" Not that tall
5'10"-5'11" On the tall side
6'-6'2" Tall
6'3"-6'4" Very Tall
6'5"+ Giant
That works. Now what is a better phrase for "porky"?

people are so worried about everybody else, how do they ever get anything accomplished for themselves?
I am 6'4" and if you don't want to be standing behind me at a show, get there before me. This thread is hilarious. The evil eye? The evil eye from who exactly? The countless hipsters that go to all of these shows only to look like they're in a coma while the band is on? Yeah I really care if I am in their way.
Actually, the Swedes are only 0.8 inches taller than the average caucasian American male.

The Dutch (and some Serbs) are the ones who average 6-foot plus.
