The countless hipsters that go to all of these shows only to look like they're in a coma while the band is on? Yeah I really care if I am in their way.

The Dutch (and some Serbs) are the ones who average 6-foot plus.

Depends on what county you're in. In Sweden, you must be 6'5" to be tall. In the US, 6' or more. In Asian countries, over 5'.

Yeah, but you're fat too, which changes the whole dynamic.

Proper gentlemen's etiquette requires that taller men stand at the back of a standing room function.

Again, those are the only ones I take issue with, not anyone who gets there before me.
Its the 9:30 club, who is dancing and flailing around? They oversell the place so that no one can move and the "wild ones" in the crowd are the dozen or so people bobbing their heads.
OMG! You've noticed that too! It's totally lame! I wish this were NYC or Detroit or Portland or anywhere else! Everyone dances but DC!!!!

Tall people did not choose to be tall but why do they so often choose to wear hats?

That works. Now what is a better phrase for "porky"?

Could we please use a more politically correct term than "midgets"? ;)

Tall people did not choose to be tall….
Does that "proper gentleman" schtick score you a lot of 'tang?

im way short, 5'1" and normally get to shows way early for that very reason. i usually go with a friend whose 6'4" and people love me in the front. hes nice and lets us short people in front of him to a degree.
then again, i get there early and inevitably the tallest guy insists on standing in the tiniest space in front of me in front of the stage. last time i kicked a guy HARD with my boots on. i felt much better and my friend wanted to run. the guy who blocked me said "sorry i didnt see you". luckily i kicked him :D

this thread is funny. stand in the back if you're tall. people have told me that sometimes.
but, as someone else said, i have a short(ish) girlfriend. she's 5'6". so we cant stand together at shows? :)
so heres what we've decided
up front: short people and hot girls
in the back: tall guys, people who dance, take pictures and wear hats.
you laugh now, but one day it may be a reality. i can just see little measuring stick at the door (you must be THIS short to get near the front)
and oh yeah, FYI, i am 6'1" and unless i am like 5' from the stage, there is ALWAYS someone taller than me in my way!!! especially in DC. Baltimore seems to be much shorter for some reason.
